A Rainy Day

I picked up my brush and dipped it in blue
I painted the sky , as my brush flew
Yellow was next, a bright golden sun
A little green hill where the stream runs
My small calm stream ran into the sea
Where a child was playing, I wish it was me .
This picture of mine, is of my own land
So , next I added some nice cool sand ,
I dipped my brush in white for the finishing touch
Some seagulls flying , wings flapping and such
Then I looked up and to my dismay
The falling rain had not gone away .
But , my painting made my heart shout
For it seemed to make the sun come out!

David ....

How much pain will it take,
this broken heart of mine,
when I dream back to the past,
when everything was fine,
I can feel happiness,
as I remember how life shone,
but all I have are memories,
of happy life thats gone,
Your my angel,
my sweet brother,
whom I totally adore,
I wish that you could love me,
now as you have before,
I pray you won't forget me,
or think that I was wrong,
I only left you lonely there,
for thats where you belonged,
I would have given anything,
to watch you grow each day,
to see you when you started school,
to help you learn and pray,
I miss your smiling eyes,
that burnt me deep with pride,
I miss your "I love you Bev's",
that made me warm inside,
my thoughts are with you every day,
my prays are with you too,
wherever you may be,
whatever you may do,
And if you find the time my dear,
please spare a thought for me,
For I will be your sister
for all eternity.

Charity

If charity were love,
I'd have lots to spare.
Giving out in donations,
to those that have nothing.
Some complain-
saying giving is too much.
For they don't realize,
if charity were love,
they'd be sharing it everyday.
For those that live and breathe,
for those that bear our future.
Love is but a precious gift,
give it generously.
When you learn to give your love,
those around you soon give it in return.
If charity were love,
I'd spare no limits.
Donations is the name,
and love is the game.
Holding nothing back,
giving it your all.
For you'll soon find your biggest fans,
are those closest to the heart.

Ode to Mom

Mom's hold a special space in our hearts ,
a genetic link that can never be
severed apart.

We idolize and help when we can ,
but realize we could never repay
the sacrifices that were made everyday.

No matter the subject , a kind ear to listen
a friend to be with and share special moments
Someone that keeps giving and has no opponents.

A mom is the paste that binds all the parts
and whips everything together with heart.
Unquestioned love and total support.

All moms are great in their own ways,
I can't find a fault with mine as of today,
even her cautious worrying is often a plus.

It might be my imagination, 'cause she's my Mom.
.. But I've never heard a bad word from anyone!

May You Always Feel Loved

May you find serenity and tranquility in
a world you may not always understand.

May the pain you have known
and the conflict you have experienced
give you the strength to walk through
life facing each new situation
with courage and optimism.
Always know that there are those
whose love and understanding will
always be there,
even when you feel most alone.

May you discover enough goodness in
others to believe in a world of peace.

May a kind word, a reassuring touch,
a warm smile
be yours every day of your life,
and may you give these gifts
as well as receive them.
Remember the sunshine,
when the storm seems unending.
Teach love to those who know hate,
and let that love embrace you,
as you go into the world.

May the teaching of those
you admire become part of you,
so that you may call upon them.
Remember, those whose lives
you have touched
and who have touched yours
are always a part of you,
even if the encounters
were less than you would have wished.
It is the content of the encounter
that is more important than its' form.

May you not become too concerned
with material matters,
but instead place immeasurable value
on the goodness in your heart.
Find time in each day to see the beauty
and love in the world around you.

Realize that each person has limitless
abilities, but each of us is different
in our own way.

What you may feel you lack in
one regard may be more than
compensated for in another.

What you feel you lack in the present
may become one of your strengths
in the future.

May you see your future as one
filled with promise and possibility.
Learn to view everything
as a worth while experience.

May you find enough inner strength to
determine your own worth by yourself,
and not be dependent on another's
judgements of your accomplishments.

May you always feel loved...

Footprints

One night a man had a dream.

He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand;
one belonged to him, and the other to the Lord.

When the last scene of his life flashed before him,
He looked back at the footprints in the sand.
He noticed that many times along the path of his life
There was only one set of footprints.
He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest
And saddest times in his life.

This really bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it.
"Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you,
You'd walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that at the worst times in my life,
there is only one set of footprints.
How could you leave me when I needed you the most?"

The Lord replied " My precious, precious child,
I love you and would never leave you.
During your times of suffering
And when you see only one set of footprints,
It was then that I carried you."

To My Grown-Up Child

My hands were busy through the day ,
I didn't have much time to play ,
The little games you asked me to ,
I didn't have much time for you ,
I'd wash your clothes ,
I'd sew and cook ,
But when you'd bring your picture book ,
And ask me please to share your play ,
I'd say " a little later in the day . "
I'd tuck you in all safe at night ,
And hear your prayers ,
Turn out the light ,
Then tip-toe softly to the door ,
I wish I'd stayed a little more .
For life is short ,
The years rush past ,
A little child grows up so fast ,
They are no longer at your side ,
Their precious secrets to confide .
Now the picture books are put away ,
There are no longer games to play ,
No goodnight kiss ,
No prayers to hear ,
That all belongs to yester year ,
My hands once busy ,
Now are still ,
The days are long and hard to fill ,
I wish I could go back and do ,
The little things you asked me to .

Shelter From The Storm

Can I talk to you in my hours
of desperation?
Would you have the warmth to care?
Dancing with the tides,
moving so dangerously close to the edge.
Feeling as though I am being swallowed,
fighting- not to drown.
Looking out through the darkness,
finding a peaceful comfort in
the shadows.
A heart of glass,
fragile but true.
Do I dare to fight these rapids?
Being tossed every which way,
through white waters.
Does your soul have room for
one more?
What is it you would say -
if I should call today?
Would you show me a beacon to
fight the storm?
Or would you be one to watch me drown?
Tell me now, what would you say
if I called today?
