The Toss

I peered around the room
Sweat beginning to roll off my chin
The lights shone down on me
As everyone stared
That large bulking figure in white ,
seemed to becoming impatient
Even the music from the ballroom ,
seemed to come to a hault
It was my stage
My turn to shine
Courageously I lifted my fist in the air
The rythmetic banging ,
brought me to a trance
That confident smirk grew
I just knew that this was it !

My knees started banging ....
Echoing throughout the large chamber
Why had I chosen to risk it all ??
What could possibly have crossed my mind
For that single shot of glory
All I owned was there on the table
It was to be all or nothing
As I waved my wrist over my head
Beads of sweat dropping ,
from my forehead
Splatt !! Splatt !!
As those tiny droplets hit ,
the green felt

With that quick flick of the wrist
Those dice flew out of my hands
They clammerred together ,
as they hit the table
Springing the entire room together
The roar of the crowd
Made my veins bulge
As they rolled along the bright green mat

The sudden hush of the crowd
As die after die ,
came to a hault on the wall
My trembling hands would not
allow me to look
As the man in the Tux yelled out ,
CRAPS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
