THE BERYL WOOD BOOK GRANT

Beryl Wood is a founder member of C.A.H.E. She was the first Secretary and a recipient of a national award in her country, Trinidad and Tobago.
This award is a special non-service award of $U.S 1000.00 for candidates who are in the process of completing their Bachelors, Masters degree or Doctoral dissertation research and writing related to Home Economics. Applicants are expected to receive the degree by the end of the academic year.Applicants must be active members of C.A.H.E. having been financial for four consecutive years including the year ofapplication.




THE GWENDOLYN TONGE SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

This scholarship was initiated in 1981. Senator Tonge is a founder menber of C. A. H. E. and has given over twenty five years of service to the organisation. She served as President from 1977 to 1981 and has co-authored the C.A.H.E. text book series Caribbean Home Economics in Action.

The Scholarship is a non renewable stipend of U. S. $3000.00. This is disbursed in two installments on a semester basis. The award will be for the academic year beginning August 15 and ending August 14.



ELIGIBILITY

Applicants should be C.A.H.E. members and must be financial for four (4) consecutive years before they are eligible.

Applicants should be full time students enrolled in a degree programme in Home Economics and should be in their second year of study at an accredited university.

Applicants should hold at least a B average in major core courses.

Applicants should not be the current recipient of any other award in the same year.



APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Applicants must complete the standard application form. This must be accompanied by a statement from the applicant outlining his/her long range goals and how the degree will assist in meeting those goals.

Official transcripts of previous University work must be submitted. Copies and facsimilies are not accepted.

Three reference report should be submitted. They should be from persons who are in a position to evaluate thye applicant's academic and professional ability. At lest two references should be from individuals in the applicant's field of study.
