| Howie 'Sweet D' |
 |
His sweet falsetto voice is an ecential part to the harmony of the Backstreet Boys. Born on August 22, 1973, Howie's family knew tht he was going to be a star when he jumped on his grandmother's bed with a plastic guitar and sang the old tune 'Baby Face.'
This Orlando native got his start tagging along with his sister Pollyanna. "She got me started when i was 7 and she was 11 years old," Howie explains. "She just tagged me along to all the musica's and plays she was in. The very first play i did was 'The Wizard of Oz.' I was a munchkin. She was 'Glenda the Good Witch.'"
That's when Howie knew that showbiz was his thing. He went to star in local productions of 'The Sound of Music,' 'Showboat,' 'Camelot,' and others. But he didn't just do plays. He took on the name of Tony Dinetti and starred in the piolet episode of 'Welcome Freshman' and had roles in the movies 'Parenthood' and 'Cop and a Half.' He also appeared in a commercial for Walt Disney World when he was a teenager.
With all the acting you might of thought Howie was going to be a actor. But not Howie, he knew that music was his first love. "I've been in singing lessons since i was around 12 years old." says Howie. Ironicly enough he shared the same vocl choach as futer bandmate AJ McLean.
The two started seeing each other more and more at diffrent auditions. "It was like fate." says Howie. "I auditioned and this woman who was holdong the audition asked if i knew anyone named AJ McLean and i said yes because AJ and I had done some acting together." Then later they met Nick and saw him at difrent auditions and decided to form a group. "So it was me, AJ and Nicky and two other guys who, inevitably, it didn't work out." But then they met Kevin through a mutual friend and the rest is History!!!
