Ever wonder what causes cancer, aids, or genetic diseases?
The Genome Project is trying to help solve these perplexing questions. Whithin the human body are millions of discrete
part. Some of these parts are known to us as genes. Whithin each gene is the genetic code that is the blue print or a template if you will of how your body was designed. This design template exist in all of the bodys genes and is
passed (or cloned) from one gene to the next gene. These genes also pass any imperfections that may exist (for example an imperfection with the body immune system). These imperfections may be how your body adapts to different situations and how the body naturally becomes sick with disease. One human gene contains 46 chromosomes. These chromosomes all provide different functions for the body. One chromosome may provide the genetic blue print for how to make a liver while the other a ear.
