Beverly Hodges died in 1853. Her death left many unsolved mysteries. She
can't rest until some things are taken care of. Page and Babs are going to
help her solve the mysteries and put her soul at ease.
The House On Peri Lane is dedicated to my grand daughter Peri Grose. She
is one year old at the time of this writing.
Peri Lane is overgrown. The five acre lot has become a tangle of brush
and undergrowth. Setting in among the centuries old Oak trees is a house.
It's built sturdy. The exterior is of Granite. The roof is Slate. The
interior is all Oak. How could it remain undisturbed for so long.
"That young lady was telling me all about a picnic." Martha said.
The young lady in question had been dead for 147 years.

Page and Babs stood on the steps of the old house staring at the front door. The door was a huge oak slab, bound with brass, secured by huge bolts. The lock was old. Very old. There was a window on each side of the door. The windows looked like huge vacant
eyes. The remnants of some old curtains still covered the windows.
Well? Babs said.
Well What? Page replied.
"When did you have time to find all this out? Page asked. Babs short history had piqued her interest.
Couple of elderly gentlemen were hanging around the store a couple of weeks ago. They got to talking and the subject came up. I was helping my folks at the time and took it all in from behind the counter. They sat, sipping coffee and discussed the place
for quite some time. The place is supposed to have a resident ghost. They say the brother of the last owner killed his mistress in one of the third floor bedrooms. They hung him and she is supposed to walk the halls carrying a lantern, looking for him.
OOH! Ive just breathed some dead persons blood. She gagged but all that came up was bail. It had been several hours since breakfast. She suddenly realized she was hungry. Probably a good thing, she thought.
Yes you met Martha. You were telling her about your picnic that first day that we were all at the house. Shes our cook. Page explained.
Then shes a slave? Beverly asked.
No. We had a terrible war over that and we dont have slaves any more. Martha works for my parents for pay. Shes paid so much a week. She has her own family and her own home. Page explained.
Ladies, I have become very fond of the three of you and would like to invite you to be guests in my home in Philadelphia. Page and Babs were touched but explained they were still in school and were finishing their junior year and would not be able to
cept the invitation. They in turn invited him to be thier guest at The House On Peri Lane.
I have nothing pressing. If you two could spare me I would love to see Philadelphia, Beverly said.
I swear Ill never get used to these disappearing acts. About the time were getting somewhere our ghost just vanishes. Babs complained loudly.
