  • THE 200 YEAR WAR
The clock radio came on. It was five A.M. James Rollins rolled out of bed, Stretched, and
started dressing. The music stopped and the excited voice of the disc jockey come on.
“I have just been handed a news flash! We’re under attack! Wait! The AP wire is going
crazy!” The DJ said, his voice rising almost to a scream.
“This is incredible! I don’t believe it! New York, Miami, Norfolk, and Washington
    DC HAVE BEEN BOMBED!!
All our military installations have been hit. Troops are being landed by plane at all major
airports throughout the country. Parachutes have been reported coming down in many of
the remote areas, and unconfirmed sources report that a flight of missiles was fired from
the eastern seaboard shortly after the attack began, but no one was sure what type they
were, nor what their targets were
Several hours later, another flight of planes came down the valley at low altitude. These
were large bloated tankers. Each one was trailing a stream of yellow vapor from its wings.
The vapor was settling to the ground in the valley where a small herd of cattle were
grazing. Suddenly they began to toss their heads and bellow, staggered around, and fell
to the ground thrashing and kicking, then lay still. All this took about five minutes.
Gas! The dirty son of a bitches are gassing the towns!”
Carefully lining the cross hairs of the scope on the center of the forehead of the nearest
soldier, he took a deep breath and gently squeezed the trigger until he felt the powerful
    rifle kick against his shoulder.
James watched, transfixed by the scene as the soldier sank to the ground as if the scene
before him were taking place in slow motion.
The great Rocky Mountains are honeycombed with caves and abandoned mines.
Even in this rugged untamed territory, James found it hard to hide his followers
The released women prisoners told of a small number of women who had willingly moved
in with the Red Hat soldiers to escape the prison camp.
The women snatched knives from the raiders and fell upon the Red Hat soldiers, slashing
    and ripping at them.
Dead and dying soldiers were soon hanging up all over the warehouses and prison
compound. Still thirsting for blood, the women sorted out the whores, and bound them
securely to the mutilated bodies of their Red Hat lovers,
    What equipment?" James asked.

"My mining equipment! "We'll haul off all the mining equipment we can, but what's so

    special about yours?" James asked.
“It works on the laser principle, and the few tests we had a chance to run proved very
    promising
James looked at the remains, shook his head and said; “If only we could do that to the
Red Hats at a distance with one of these drills, we would have one hell of a weapon."
As the evening meal was being served in the Red Hat camp, a red flare streaked into
the air. 100 laser rifles came to life, raking tanks and armored personnel carriers and Red
    Hat troops.
    The result was unbelievable!
A 2,000 man laser brigade hit the armored division from the front burning out several
of the lead tanks and cutting down a hundred or so infantry troops, then they broke and
    ran.
As he handed over a fresh battery, James realized that the young soldier he was
sharing the position with was a woman.
“My name’s Margaret Omalley. My friends call me Maggie."

"Hi Maggie, I'm James Rollins," "I feel funny," Maggie said in a hushed voice as they

    pressed closer together.
"You aren't getting sick, are you?” James asked, suddenly alert.
"No silly. Not that kind of funny," Maggie giggled.
“Oh. I think you better go to sleep,”
"Do you want me James?” Maggie asked in a choked voice.
Hell yes I want you!" It has to happen sooner or later," Maggie teased, wiggling
closer. "I knew that when“Oh hell! Who can argue with a woman," I first met you. It was
just a question of when and where."
"Oh James. No James! Now!" She moaned, pulling him to her.
Half the force at the far end of the field suddenly became a mass of charred bodies
and puddles of smoldering liquid steel. The air was laced with the sharp scent of ozone.
The air shimmered and danced with the intenseness of the heat.
“Well then, what the hell is it?". James demanded anxiously.

"She's pregnant," the doctor replied, placing a gentle hand on James’s shoulder.
    "OH!" James exclaimed.
How come you speak English so well?" Sam asked. "My father always wondered about
that. Do all of you speak English?”
“Yes sir. We were taught English in school. It's required," The soldier explained.
"What do we do with him?" One of the freedom fighters asked.
"I don't have the heart to order him shot," Sam replied. “We’ve killed enough for
today. Throw him on one of the trucks and have someone watch him. I guess we've taken
    our first prisoner.
"God Ronnie! Don't squeeze it so hard," Sam moaned as he followed the motion of
    her hand.
With her thighs spread as wide as the conveyance of the sleeping bag would allow, she
    guided him to her.
"If he took me against my will, and I raised a fuss the other members of the group
would cut his nuts out and choke him to death with them," Betty replied grimly.
"That sounds awful!" Ronnie exclaimed, cringing at the thought.
The new laser tanks were given top priority in all manufacturing centers. Powered by a
small atomic generator, no larger than a small four cylinder gasoline engine, these small
tanks were manned by a crew of two.
At dawn on the first day of spring, the Red Hats were ordered to attack. Field commanders
were told to succeed or not dare return. Grossly outnumbered the R.M.L.B. was finally
overcome by the sheer number of enemy vehicles charging down upon them.
Commanding the force of 10,000 tanks was the wisest and most cunning field
    General that had ever lived.
Ronnie waited, strapped in her seat with a miniature sun raging under her feet, waiting to
be released, she acknowledged the reports that came in from R.M.L.B. sentries posted
along the crest of the range of hills.
10,000 atomic motors came to life. Turrets swung, and the deadly beams of the laser
cannons burned away the top of the ridge along with the first wave of enemy armored
divisions. Without stopping to survey the damage their guns had done, the tanks leaped
forward, charging over the top of the ridge, hitting the oncoming enemy hoards, cutting a
swatch fifty miles wide through their lines.
Martha slid off the couch, retrieved her skirt and tried to cover her nudity with it as
both men stood looking down at her. Guilt was written all over her face. She hung her
head in shame, refusing to meet their eyes.
Along the Southern frontier stretching Westward, about 20 miles behind the frontier was a
line of Atomic powered tanks. These were the new models. They had twin turrets, each
sporting two of the gruesome laser cannons. 50,000 of these dull brown monsters
stretched out along a 500 mile front.
Along the St. Lawrence seaway corridor stretched another line of the
    brown monsters. 150,000 strong.
James II picked up a phone in his headquarters deep within the rock of the Rocky
Mountains. “Start the Southern advance," he said in a calm but tired voice.
“When will you be back dear," Martha asked.
James II looked out over the green fields surrounding the small airstrip, squeezed
Martha’s hand gently and replied. "I don't know dear. When it's over, or I'm dead, I guess."
Do they win? Do they lose? Does Martha lose her james to the awful enemy? What
happens next? Buy a copy at http://www.lulu.com/duncanpublishing and find out. printed copies are $9.57, downloads are only $2.50.

  • THE END IS NEAR
From the city of Norfolk thousands of prison laborors streamed. They had all been born in captivity. Thier clothing was filthy and ragged. They had been starved. When food supplies got short the enemy didn"t waste any food on prison labor. The Freedom Fighters entered the city. Thousands more prisoners, who had escaped, or been released, roamed the streets. Fighting was house to house and these poor souls got in the way and were often wounded or killed when they were caught in a cross fire between the opposing forces. JamesII wept for them. As if they hadn't already suffered enough. His men rounded them up and herded them to safe areas behind the lines but for some it was to late.
