First, Let me tell you alittle about who we are and what we do, Also, I would like to dedicate this site to the memory of my Dad," Ray "Bud," Rhode." He taught me the art, Love and very high "Ethical Standards of Rockhounding," I.E. respect for ones property, sharing your finds-void of any greed, and keeping it fun!!! From these Ethical Standards of Rockhounding grew an appreciation for this fine hobby. I can't say enough about how important it is. I never once seen Dad trespass, dig somewhere he never had permission or not share his digs with total strangers.Many times he would give his best rocks to kids or disabled folks in the field. It would always come back 10 fold, many times he would be invited to mines here in Oregon and Idaho at no cost!!! He never got rich off rocks in a monetary way but he was one of the most wealthy men with a bulging bank account of love... I want to pay a special tribute to all the land owners, mine owners that allow folks to dig rocks, or even find float. I can understand some owners charging a reasonable fee to off-set their cost........I would also like to dedicate this page to all the old timer rockhounds who have been such an inspiration and wealth of knowledge...

Matter of fact I want to instill this point. I do not do business with rude or crude people or cheaters. Even on Ebay one can spot a cheater, say he uses (keyword spamming) or tries to discrdit and cheat the hard working sellers by plagerizing (stealing) their ideas. Which is an actual Criminal Theft!!! I don't care how green your money is. People come first, their feelings come first. Theres plenty of rockshops that don't give a dang who you are as long as you got the cash. My name is Dale Rhode, I have a large family with 5 kids, 4 sons, and one daughter . My sons
and I are avid Rockhounders and Lapidarists, my Daughter is quickly learning, and loves to look
for pretty rocks :) We buy, sell, trade, exchange inf. etc....We are not out to get rich but to
have fun and enjoy the educational, exciting world of rockhounding.
I started out very young in rockhounding, trailing behind my Dad as we would hunt for all the beautiful rocks Oregon has to offer. There is an awe that comes over me when I cut an ugly old rock and see all the hidden beauty God has made, I believe the Good Lord has a lesson in that.
If you're new to rockhounding then you have chosen a terrific hobby. Visit some of the rock shows
in your area and you will see that most hounders are good, honest folks, that are more than glad to take a few minutes to teach you something about rocks etc...One more thing, just about every place you
go you're gonna find rocks suitable to be worked, tumbled etc...If it's on private land be sure to get
permission first.If you have a site where the landowner or mine owner lets you pick up rocks, be sure to offer a share to the owner and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't make a mess, be sure to cover any holes, pick up any trash, not just yours...and also respect the wishes of those mine and land owners that do not wish to have you on their land...Treat them right and in turn your good deeds will be rewarded.
Now let me tell you a little more about our rocks...
Our primary interests are in Oregon's beautiful Picture Jaspers and Plume Agates and many other
stones from throughout the world.
We Prospect for new rock and every year we usually find atleast one new deposit. Prospecting is very hard work and atrue prospector can sure enough relate to that. The new GPS systems on the market have made it so much easier to keep track of finds...I was diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) last winter 09 after a 5 month bout with pneumonia...It has affected me terribly in the way I used to prospect and even cut rock as the disease progresses seems my breath gets shorter...But if I have my way I will draw my last breath with a rock hammer in one hand thats for sure lol...
We also buy, sell& trade slabbing rough, rough for Spheres,
cabochons, book ends etc...We do some dealing in Australian Opals, and
Idaho's beautiful Spencer Opal.
We are always open to trade for other rocks, or Lapidary equipment. We carry a Maximum standard of
