JUDGE CAROL HABERMAN
Judge Haberman began her judicial career in January, 1975. She was elected as a County Court-at-Law Judge, and was later appointed by former Governor Dolph Briscoe as the first female District Judge in Bexar County, Texas in September, 1977. She continues to serve in this capacity at the present time.
Initially, Carol handled wills and estate matters, acting as one of two probate judges in San Antonio, Texas. As a District Judge, she handles a variety of civil matters, including personal injury suits, fire loss, construction loss, adoption, marital cases including divorce, property interpretations, custody, and a host of other matters which all district courts handle throughout the State of Texas.
Prior to her judgeship, Carol practiced law for more than 15 years. She recieved her LL.B. and Dr. of Jurisprudence from St. Mary's University School of Law. She also holds a master's degree from the Worden School of Social Service, Our Lady of the Lake University, San Antonio, Texas.
Preceding her election as a Judge, she served on our San Antonio City Council from 1970-1973; serving a portion of this period as Mayor Pro Tem. Carol promoted tourism, expansion of our convention facilities, the San Antonio River, helped in initiating the (EMS) Emergency Medical Services and the night magistrate program. She was involved in restoration projects, food for the elderly, talent searches for women, and as Chairman of the Alamo Area Council of Governments aided other jurisdictions in securing additional personnel and equipment in other law enforcement areas.
Judge Haberman is a 'Life Fellow,' an honor bestowed upon her by the Texas Bar Foundation. She is also a member of the American Judicature Society and the San Antonio and Texas Bar Associations. She recieved special recognition for her participation in programs at the National College of the State Judiciary where she led an Evidence group.
Judge Haberman served on the Board of Trustees at St. Mary's University. She is a past President of the Law School Alumni Association, and of the Council of International Relations. She is a Past State President of the Texas Business & Professional Women's Club, a Past Governor of Altrusa International, District Nine, a Past President of the San Antonio Women's Federation, and a Past Chairman of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre. Other civic affiliations include the San Antonio-Air Force Community Council, the Alamo Area Boy Scouts, Board of Directors. She is a member of the Council of Presidents, San Antonio Beautify Assn., American Association of University Women, S.A. Conservation Society, Delta Rho Delta, Catholic Daughters of America, Freedoms Foundation and an Honorary member of Delta Kappa Gamma.
In earlier years, and prior to her legal experiences, she was involved with private enterprise at Convair Aircraft, Stanolind Oil & Gas Co., a director of the Marshall Street Senior Center in an effort to test the effetiveness of coordinating health, occupational and recreation serves to the elderly. Gov. Smith presented her with a distinguished service award for improving services to the elderly. She was also involved with juvenile projects, and aided in developing a film, "Prevention of Juvenile Shoplifting."
Carol has been a recipient of the EXPRESS & NEWS "Outstanding Women's Awards." She recieved the Matrix Special Award and in 1977 she was presented the Texas Press Women, Inc. annual communication award. She recieved awards from various women's organizations including the National Council of Jewish Women's annual award for the person rendering special community services in our City. Rudy and Carol volunteered at Babtist Memorial Hospital one night each week. She appeared in Texas Women of Distinction, Texas Women in Politics, Who's Who in Politics in the South and Southwest.
Mr. Rudy A. Haberman her husband(deceased) was a member of the San Antonio Board of Realtors, and was associated with their sons in the developement and construction of Industrial Parks and commercial building in San Antonio and Austin, Texas.

JUDGE AL ALONSO
Judge Al Alonso received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from St. Mary's University in 1968. He has an Associate Arts Degree from San Antonio College and a Bachelor of Science from Trinity University. He is Board Certified Specialist in Criminal by the Texas State Board of Legal Specialization since 1975. He has more than 30 years of experience practicing law.
Judge Al Alonso was elected as Justice of the Peace, Precinct 1, Place 2, in 1994, and had no opponent in his re-election in 1998. He was appointed by Commissioners Court to serve as Judge for County Court at Law No. 1 and Probate in March of 1998. In June of 1998 he was elected as Judge for County Court of Law No. 1 by Bexar County Democratic Precinct Chairs and was unopposed in the November 1998 general election.
Judge Al Alonso is a member of the San Antonio Bar Association, the State Bar, the Federal Bar, and is Licensed in the Western District of Texas. In addition, he is a member of Sembradores de Amistad since 1991, the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, member of Peace Makers and serves on the Board of Directors of The Loving Dozen.
Judge Al Alonso's expertise in criminal law and extensive legal experience has prepared him to serve as Judge of County Court of Law No. 1 which handles primarily criminal matters.


JUSTICE OF THE PEACE ALBERT W. MCKNIGHT
Mr. McKnight was born in Belmont, Texas on February 19, 1941, he is married to Yulanee and they have two children, Christopher and Rebecca.
He graduated from Ball High School in Seguin, Texas, attended St. Phillips College and recieved his B.A. in Government and History from St. Mary's University in San Antonio in 1967. He recieved his J.D. from Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas and was licensed by the Supreme Court of Texas in April 1973.
During his twenty-three years of practice, he has done a variety of legal work including civil jury trials involving contracts, real estate, and defense of liability claims. He is licensed to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas.
He has extensive knowledge of government activities from Municipal to the federal level, having served as administrative assistant to the City Manager of San Antonio from 1968 through 1969, Director of Planning, Model Cities, of the City of New Orleans and served as a Municipal Court Judge for the City of San Antonio.
Mr. McKnight presently is on or has served in the past on the Board of Directors of the Community Guidance Center, the United Way of San Antonio, Alumni Board of Directors, St. Mary's University, the NAACP. He has served as President of the Alamo YMCA, Commanche District of the Boy Scouts of America, Catholic Family and Children Services and has been elected President of the Serra Club, Archdiocese of San Antonio.
Mr. McKnight is a member of the Omega PSI PHI Fraternity and Rho Chi Fraternity and is a member of the Knight and Ladies Holy Sepulchre and the Knights of St. Peter Claver.
