STATE REPRESENTATIVE MIKE VILLARREAL - District 115
Representative Villarreal was elected in February 2000 to fill the vacant seat left by forrmer representative, Leticia Van de Putte, who was elected to the State Senate upon the death of Senator Greg Luna.

STATE REPRESENTATIVE CARLOS I. URESTI
A native Texan, Carlos I Uresti was born in San Antonio on September 12, 1963. He is the son of Rachel and Alberto Uresti, Sr.
After graduating from McCollum High School in 1981 where he was the ROTC Brigade Commander, Carlos enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Reserves as a Private. Upon graduation from St. Mary's University with a Bachelor of Political Science and a Teacher's Certifacate, Carlos was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Marine Corps. Upon leaving the Marine Corps after 4 years of active duty, Captain Uresti enrolled in St. Mary's University School of Law where he earned a law degree in 1992.
Carlos began his professional career as an attorney. In June, 1997 Carlos was elected to the Texas House of Representatives. In 1998, Carlos was reelected to the House of Representatives for a full term. Representative Uresti serves on the Judicial Affairs and Public Health Committees where he is an outspoken advocate on issues affecting the education and health of our citizens.
Carlos Uresti is a devoted public servant who has dedicated his life to making the south side of San Antonio a better place to live and work. Education, youth activities, the elderly, and veterans' rights are the cornerstones of Representative Uresti's commitment to public service.
Carlos is married to the former Yolanda Acuna and they have two sons, Michael and Carlitos. Michael is a Junior at McCollum High School and Carlitos is a 7th grader at Kingsborough Middle School in the Harlendale Independent School District.


STATE REPRESENTATIVE RUTH JONES MCCLENDON
Ruth Jones McClendon, State Representative District 120. Educator, leader, Christian, humanitarian, statesman and committed to helping others, are all descriptions used when speaking of the Honorable Ruth Jones McClendon- Texas State Representative, District 120 (San Antonio, Texas). Representative McClendon's service has been an asset to her community and the State of Texas. McClendon served as a city councilwoman and mayor protempore from June 1993-August 1996. In November 1996, she won a seat in the Texas House of Representatives-District 120 in a special election and the general election. House Speaker James "Pete" Laney appointed her to the Juvenile Justice and Family Issues and Public Safety Committees. She is founder of the Community Crime Prevention Network Inc. and President and CEO of McClendon Harwell Developement, Inc. McClendon considers her greatest accomplishments are being a mother, having a rewarding family life in the midst of the rigors of public service and being able to serve her community as a State Represetative because they all take hard work and the rewards are tremendous.
The late Congresswoman Barbara Jordan is the historical African American that has had the greatest influence on McClendon's accomplishments.
McClendon says the obstacles that she has faced have been a few formidable obstacles "but fighting discrimination has been an on going obstacle that we must all fight."
The Honorable Ruth Jones McClendon advises when seeking a career in politics, you must first obtain as much education as possible. In the world of politics, you need to be equipped with a breadth of knowledge on just about everything. A good way to get your political foot in the door is to volunteer to work in political campaigns or offices of elected officials.
Ruth Jones McClendon has been a great servant to the San Antonio community and her hard work and efforts have never gone unnoticed.

STATE REPRESENTATIVE ARTHUR REYNA
Arthur Reyna is the Texas State Representative for House District 125. Representative Reyna was elected to the House of Representatives in November, 1996 and was sworn into office on January 14, 1997.
During his first legislative session, Representative Reyna worked to help small businesses in the State of Texas and improving public education. His legislative accomplishments include the review of every bill dealing with juvenile crime.
Through his legislative work, Representative Reyna hopes to make the public school environment one that is safer and more profitable for students and faculty. He is confident that improving public education is the key to a strong Texas, because an effective public education system will create the qualified workforce which will in turn lead to economic growth.
Arthur Reyna was born on August 11, 1956, and grew up in San Antonio, where he attended John Jay High School. He recieved a B.A. in English and a Doctorate of Jurisprudence from St. Mary's School of Law. Representative Reyna was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1981. As an attorney, Representative Reyna was instrumental in the creation and implementation of the Pre-Suit Mediation Program for the San Antonio Bar Association. Representative Reyna is currently in private practice in San Antonio where his legal emphasises include business and family law.
Throughout his career, Representative Reyna has continued to give to his community by serving in the Knights of Columbus and Lions Club, and as a soccer coach in the St. Paul Atheletic Association.
He was motivated to seek office in November, 1996 to tackle the most important issues facing House District 125: economic growth, government integrity, and juvenile crime. Representative Reyna was elected November 5, 1996, with 61% of the vote. He was unopposed in the November 1998 election, and was sworn in again on January 12, 1999.
Representative Reyna and his wife, Sylvia, who serves as Executive Director of the Parent Community Partnership Network in San Antonio Independent School District, reside in San Antonio with their sons, Arthur III and Adrian.
