| The Return of the Shadow is the first of four books detailing the history of the Lord of the Ring's series. I would only read this book if you've already read the Lord of the Ring's series, and have a curiousity to see how Tolkien went about writing it. The book includes many reversions of certain chapters, and many notes and comments by Christopher Tolkien. Its a terrific book for the Tolkien scholar, who not only studies Middle earth, but how Tolkien writes. |
