‘Was it all a dream? If I open my eyes will he be gone?’

Dashel slowly looked up through his sleepy haze, and found, thankfully, that he was still entwined with his sandy haired love. His deep brown eyes met with hazel as Alex returned his gaze. He smiled, and they kissed passionately. Tongues exploring; fingertips wandering aimlessly through hair, across chests, and between legs.
“Daddy daddy daddy!!! Get up daddy! It’s snowing! Look it’s snowing”
“It’s January honey, of course it’s snowing.”
“Is this why you told me to put my boxers back on?” Alex nodded.
“Dad! Get your lazy bum out of bed! Its seven o’clock already!”
“Belle, come here, lie down, and at least try to go back to sleep, okay?” The little girl pouted, but reluctantly complied. Crawling over her father to snuggle in between the two men. They stayed like that for quite some time, just cuddling up, listening to the collective sounds of breathing that filled the room. However, Alex could see that his daughter was restless, the persistent fidgeting was a bit of a give away.

“Mr Lynott?”
“Yes Angel?”
“I like you.” The pint-sized blond stated, matter-of-factly.
“You do?” Alex noticed Dashel’s surprise and added:
“Why are you surprised? She found you, at the time a stranger, sitting in her front room after midnight, and she didn’t blow you up!”
“What?” Feeling a demonstration was in order, Alex took an apple from the bowl on his bedside table.
“Do you wanna show him what we do to the bad men?” His daughter nodded feverishly, and he threw the apple into the air.

Dashel watched as Belladonna motioned to it, as if to grab it, and it exploded.
“Whoa! How did you do that?”
“Belle why don’t you go get dressed, and I’ll come down and make pancakes in a bit.”
“Okay.” She kissed her father’s cheek, and then Dashel’s, before departing the room.
“You are the most amazing person I’ve ever met, you know that. It’s so cute to watch you two together,” Dashel paused, “but what the hell possessed you to teach your child how to blow thing up!?”
“I didn’t, I just taught her how to focus. It just so happens that pyrotechnia is one of her innate magical abilities. Everyone has them; it’s just that most don’t have enough self-control to get a handle on them. That’s why Zen masters meditate.” Alex explained
“I know that, I wasn’t born yesterday, I’m a wizard too remember. But she’s only four! That’s practically unheard of”
“Well she has a very good teacher”
“Yuh-huh, that’s the understatement of the century!” Dashel was staring, wide-eyed at him. Alex decided it was time to move away from this particular conversation.
“Come on, lets go make pancakes.” He got up, threw on his powder-blue bathrobe, and threw an identical one to the man sitting on his bed. ‘He looks like he just saw Phil Lynott back from the dead, hmmm, I wonder if Dash knows who his adopted surname belongs too?’

“Lets do something today. We could go on a picnic, I know the perfect spot”
“I’d love to, but I cant. I have to be in work for twelve, and I’ve got to get to the solicitors office before that.”
“Take the day off. I’ll clear it with Jim.”
“How do you propose you do that? The man’s a grumpy git! And why exactly are you on first name terms with my boss?” He looked slightly worried now.
“I lent him the money to buy the pub. We were partners for a while.”
“Are you trying to tell me that you’re my boss?! Ohmygodohmygodohmygod! I slept with my boss, that’s so sleazy! Arrrggggh!”
“Will you stop hyperventilating for one second and just listen to me. I’m not your boss. Jim paid me back in full months ago. I just meant that we were on good terms, and he’ll give you the day off if I ask him to.”
“Oh thank Merlin! Don’t scare me like that!” He backhanded him to the chest. “Right you call Jim, and I’ll get on the blower to Saffy, see if she can sort out the papers instead.
“Oh that’s right, your getting divorced today aren’t you?”
“Well, we’re filing today yes.”
“How long will it take to come through?”
“Should be pretty quick. We signed a pre-nuptial contract beforehand, so things ought to be pretty straightforward.
“How long were you married?”
“Two years today, It’s my anniversary.” He smiled, “Two years is the minimum amount of time Sapphire needs to be in the country to gain citizenship in her own right.” He explained
“Am I right to gather from your brief banter with Ginny Weasley last night, that they’re having an illicit affair behind your back?”
“I wish it was behind my back! Merlin they’re noisy. There is a reason for the silencing charms around Belles rooms”
“Rooms?”
“Her bedroom connects on to playroom, and a walk-in wardrobe.”
“And you said you were trying to keep her unspoiled.”
“I am. She knows that she’s more privileged than some and she’s grateful. But that still doesn’t mean that I’m going to hand over millions of galleons to her, even if it is rightfully hers. She’s only four!” He was cut off as Dashel’s lips met his, and pulled him into a tight embrace.
“Shut up you,” he whispered lovingly into Alex’s ear.

“Where are we?” piped up the blond, referring to the location Dashel had just apparated them all to.
“Tuscany.”
“Really?”
“No, I was taking the mick, we’re down the local play park.”
”You’re silly.”
“He is isn’t he?” Laughed Alex “Oh this feels so perfect.”
“I wonder if our past lives were this happy?” Dashel mused
“They must have been. Like you said, how else would you explain this?”
“True true”

The trio sat atop a golden coloured hill and ate the raspberries and ice-cream that Alex had brought along for the occasion. Belladonna-Celeste amused herself twirling, skipping, and tumbling around; while the lovers lay in each other’s arms watching her contentedly. They took a walk through the surrounding hillside and olive groves, and came to a tiny chapel a few hours travel from their starting point. Alex thought it was the most beautiful building he’d ever seen, and told Dashel this.

“Maybe we’ll see it again someday.” He said, “but its getting dark, and this one’s getting tired” gesturing to Belle.
“You’re right, come on BDC, time to go.” And with that they pulled into a tight group hug. The men’s foreheads resting against each other, and Belle sandwiched in between them. Soon they had apparated back into Alex’s front room.

“There you are!” The familiar voice of Ginny Weasley sounded in their ears as they did.
“Should I ask why you’re coming from upstairs as apposed to through the front door?”
“No, I’m away outside for a J.” Alex raised an eyebrow
“I thought you were off that stuff?”
“I am. But that was damn good sex Al. Oh don’t look at me like that. It’s no more harmful than drink, and you can’t be against that, you work in a pub!”
“Fine, whatever, it’s up to you. Just don’t-“
“Ever let BDC see me.”
“Yes, and never-“
“In the house“
“And don’t-“
“Tell my mother that you aren’t trying to lecture it out of me.”
“Because she’ll-
“Kill you. Got it.”
“Just so long as we’re on the same page.”
“We are. Here are your divorce papers by the way.”
“Brilliant, have you got a pen?” she handed him one, he flipped through the pages, and signed or initialled a total of nine times, before handing them back to here. Nip down the bottom of the street while you’re out there and post these for me then.”
“Are you going to introduce me to that gorgeous hunk of a man over there currently playing with your daughter.”
“Ginny Dashel, Dashel Ginny.”
“Pleased to meet you Dashel.”
“Likewise,” he felt very odd being introduced when he already knew who she was. Alex smiled knowingly at him.
“Right well I’m off, Saf’s upstairs in the shower. I should warn you, she’s a bit hyperactive today.” She called as she made her way to the door.

“So, what do you want for tea?”
“Whatever you make will be fine.”
“There’s smoked salmon in the fridge. I could do some linguini for the side? Some mushroom sauce?
“You don’t have to go to any trouble.”
“Shut up! I love to cook. It’s my forte.”

Just then they were interrupted by a loud screech.

“Alex! We got the papers! Where’s ‘Gin? Have you signed on the dotted line yet? Who’s this? Oh Alexie! We’re free! I’m free! Thank-you so much! For everything! Can we stay for dinner? Ginny and I? We so need to celebrate!!”

“Uh…” Alex began to count off on his fingers, “Hi, I know, posting the divorce papers, yes otherwise ‘gin wouldn’t be posting them, this is Dashel, yes we are, I’m happy for you, don’t thank me, you know I hate that, stay if you want, obviously Ginny and you, I didn’t think you meant the Mad Hatter and the March Hare, and yes, you’re right, we should celebrate.” He took a deep breath, and saw that Dashel was looking at him in awe. “What?”

He never found out the answer however, as Ginny took this moment to re-enter
“Hey Alex, these were on your door step by the way.” She handed him a big bouquet of orange and yellow roses. He read the card:
‘Alex I’m so sorry for last night, the drink you know? I hope you can forgive me. xxx. Rosie’
“Oh she’s always bloody sorry,” she took the card and wagged her finger at it, mock scowling. “Hands off, he’s mine”
“Actually he’s mine,” Interrupted Dashel
“Daddy’s got a soulmate, daddy’s got a soulmate!”
