Founder of Miss World Pageant Death: Eric Morely, 82, who founded the International "MISS WORLD PAGEANT" has passed away due to a heart attack. He was in London where he was preparing the 50th Anniversary Miss World Pageant to be held on November 30th in London. "Morley started Miss World as part of the Festival of Britain, a 1951 extravaganza celebrating the nation's postwar comeback". "In its first year, it was a bikini contest, but it became a mainstream pageant that raised huge sums of money for charity". Miss World's main competitor, Miss Universe was started in 1952. Funeral arrangements were not released.

Opening Number: Hemant Trivedi of India along with 7 other fashion designers from around the world have been chosen by the Miss World Organization to design the opening number dresses for the 95 contestants!!
