Eric Morely, 82, who founded the International "MISS WORLD PAGEANT" has passed away due to a heart attack. He was in London where he was preparing the 50th Anniversary Miss World Pageant to be held on November 30th in London. "Morley started Miss World as part of the Festival of Britain, a 1951 extravaganza celebrating the nation's postwar comeback". "In its first year, it was a bikini contest, but it became a mainstream pageant that raised huge sums of money for charity". Miss World's main competitor, Miss Universe was started in 1952. Funeral arrangements were not released.

Dayanara Torres who was Miss Universe 1993 and her new Husband Marc Anthony are expecting a baby due around the first of next year. The happy couple resides in Puerto Rico. I am sure Dayanara will be a major influence at next years Miss Universe Pageant to take place in Puerto Rico.

Ieda Maria Vargas who was Miss Universe 1963 is in a Intensive Care Unit after suffering a cerebral aneurism. TShe is said to be conscientious and her state is not serious.

Alexandra Petrova, 20, who represented Russia at the 1999 Miss Universe Pageant was killed by an unidentified gunman at the entrance of her apartment building in Cheboksary. A person accompanying her was also killed in the attack.

Jamie Kern who is the current Miss Washington USA, is also currently on the CBS Reality Show "Big Brother". One thing about Jamie on the show is that, you will never see her without make-up!.

Karmyn Tyler, Miss Louisiana 1995 is filming commercials in the Dallas area. She can currently be seen in National Commercials: Applebees, Lincoln/Mercury, and Ohio National Casualty Insurance. The 40th Anniversary Miss International Pageant will take place on October 4, 2000. The 50th Anniversary Miss World Pageant, will take place on November 30, 2000 in London.

Charlene Bonin Gonzales, Miss Philippines 1994, is now a successful Movie and Television personality, and has been in the endorsement of a lot of beauty products. Mirriam Quianbao, Miss Philippines 1999, is also on television hosting an early morning show giving updates on traffic, weather, commments from the people about certain issues that are on survey, beauty tips and the like.

Amber Lancaster who was Miss Washington Teen USA 1998 is currently pursuing a degree in the legal field at Pierce college and as of May '99 she has also been a cheerleader for the Seattle Seahawks! Amber plans to compete in the Miss Washington USA Pageant either this year or in the future.

Tommie Albright, Miss Florida Teen USA 2000 will graduate from her community college and high school the week of May 21st. In July, she will be leaving to compete in the 2000 Miss Teen USA Pageant in Shreveport, Louisiana.

The Miss Universe Pageant 2000 aired on Friday, May 12 on CBS. The ratings for the pageant are not good. The Miss Universe Pageant ranked last on the regualar TV programing in the USA. Both NBC & ABC topped CBS in the ratings during Prime Time viewing. The Pageant sinked to record lows. Every year, the Miss Universe Pageant is slipping. The highest was in 1976 when it ranked number 1.

Dyannra Torres who was Miss Universe 1993 married latin sensation Marc Anthony on May 9, 2000. They will reside in Puerto Rico.

Mpule Kwelagobe, Miss Universe 1999; has been contracted by Clairol to be their hair color spokesperson. The commercials will be coming out at the end of May. The print ads will be coming out soon.

Jane Kim who resigned as Miss Georgia Teen USA 1999 because she was a citizen of South Korea may be a future Miss Korea. She has been chosen with two ladies from New York to compete in the Miss Korea Pageant in May.

Lawrence David "Larry" Cole, 59, of Columbia, Tennessee who is the father of the reigning Miss USA, Lynnette Cole suffered a heart attack on March 25, 2000. He was hospitalized and underwent surgery. He was reported to have improved the next day and is doing well.

A new Pageant for Hispanic Women has been created. It is called Ms. Belleza Latina. The 1st Preliminary will be held in Tampa, Florida on August 19-20, 2000 in Tampa Florida at the downtown Hyatt Regency hotel. Following that will be Ms. Illinois, on September 3-4, 2000 in Chicago at the Holiday Inn O'Hare. The 2001 Miss USA Pageant will be held in Gary, Indiana. Gary beat out 11 other US cities to host the 50th Anniversary telecast. The Miss USA Pageant will take place in Gary until 2003. The 2001 Miss USA Pageant will take place in February 2001 on the CBS Television Network. Miss USA Article

Robert M. Renneisen Jr., 53, who was president of the Claridge Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, was named president and CEO of the Miss America Organization. His predecessor, Robert L. Beck was dismissed two weeks after the 1999 pageant due to changes he wanted to make for the 2000 Pageant. Beck wanted to allow divorced women and those who have had abortions to compete. The 2000 Miss America Pageant is to take place on October 7, 2000 in Atlantic City, New Jersey and will be hosted by Donnie and Marie Osmond.

The 2000 Miss USA Pageant aired Friday, February 4, 2000. The pageant was hosted by Carson Daly and was won by Lynnette Cole of Tennessee. The Nielsen Media Research statistics are in and the Miss USA Pageant did bad placing 3rd in the ratings to NBC's "Providence" and ABC's "Flubber". This was the most least watched Miss USA Pageant in its television history. The 2000 Pageant received a 7.8 rating (11,957,000 viewers) of the nations 100,800,000 TV homes. Ratings have went down alot compared to the 1999 Pageant where it received a 9.1 rating (12,921,930 viewers).

Heather Renee French, 25, Miss America 2000 has announced that she will be getting married to her boyfriend Kentucky's Lt. Governor, Steve Henry, 46. The date will be October 2000 as soon as she crowns Miss America 2001.

Patryce King, 23 who is the current Miss Missouri America and her fiance, Paul Bruccoleri, were traveling on Missouri 210 east of Richmond, Missouri when their vehicle hit a patch of ice and went over an embankment. Ms. King was transferred from a Kansas City hospital to one in St. Louis, where she was to have surgery for facial injuries and repairs to the jaw line. The injuries are not life threatening.

On January 25, 2000; Osmel Sousa who is the President of the Miss Venezuela Pageant held a Press Conference at Venevision. He confirmed that Martina Thorogood was rejected by the Miss Universe Organization due to some complaints by National Directors. The Miss Universe Organization decided not to allow Martina Thorogood and her finalists compete at Miss Universe. Osmel Sousa will celebrate a NEW pageant called "Miss Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela". The pageant will take place on Saturday, February 26, 2000 with 10 delegates from previous Miss Venezuela Pageants. The winner should speak english fluently and will be crowned by Osmel himself. On July 15, 2000; the 1st Miss Venezuela World Pageant will take place featuring 26 contestants. Only a winner will be selected (Miss World 2000), no finalists. Miss Venezuela Universe will take place on September 8, 2000 with the remaining 25 contestants. The winner will compete in the 2001 Miss Universe Pageant. Both winners (July and September) will be crowned by the current Miss Venezuela, Martina Thorogood. Mr. Venezuela will take place on October 26, 2000.

Martina Thorgood Heemsen the current Miss Venezuela will not be competing in the 2000 Miss Universe Pageant in Cyprus. Speculation is because she is currently 1st runner to Miss World, Yukta Mookey. A new Miss Venezuela Universe will be crowned February 26. Consuelo Adler who was Miss International 1997, got married on January 14, 2000 to her long time boyfriend Felipe Aristiguieta in Caracas. The couple spent their honeymoon in Amsterdam, Holland, and will settle in Paris, France, where the former beauty queen blossoms as an international model. Consuelo now keeps busy between photo shoots and commercials.

Manila Nazzaro of Italy will not represent her country in the 2000 Miss Universe Pageant. Instead there will be a new Pageant in mid April called "The Miss for Miss Universe". The Pageant will be organized by American Model Clarissa Burt.

Chantal van Woense who was Miss Netherlands Universe 1995 and International Football Player Marc Overmars have a baby son named Frenkie.

The 2001 Miss America Pageant will be held in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The Pageant will use many traditions of Miss America Past with a new schedule. Shauna Gambill who was Miss Teen USA 1994, 1st runner up at the 1998 Miss USA Pageant and Miss World USA 1998, married Mitch Gerth in Santa Barbara Hills, CA on October 23.

Miriam Quiambao, who was 1st runner up at the 1999 Miss Universe Pageant escaped a fire that swept through the Mayon International Hotel in Legaspi City, Philippines in October 16. She is reported to be ok.

Miss Universe 1999, Mpule Kwelagobe will be going back to her home of Botswana on October 9 to address the nation on HIV/AIDS awareness at the national stadium on the University of Botswana graduation day. She is being brought home courtesy of S.T.S promotions and the government of Botswana.

Brook Lee of the USA who was Miss Universe 1997 who became the first Asian American to win the Miss Universe crown, is the host of the Travel Channel's series on "Best Beaches in the USA". The Travel channel is a division of the Discovery channel. In addition, Brook is the national spoksperson for cosmetics on ValueVision cable channel. Brook now lives in Los Angeles, where she is in high demand as a host for many Asian American events and awards shows, and continues to be one of Asian America's most beloved women.
