To whom it may concern:
This letter is an additional attachment to my resume to give you a more through description of my duties while working at Fremont Mutual Insurance Company and other items which may be relevant in your consideration of my possible employment with your
company.
While at Fremont Mutual I was placed in charge of the PC Support functions and PC to midrange connectivity. I was also involved in security and system design, helping to introduce a subfile menuing system comparable to IBM AS400 menuing.
In my tenure of employment with Fremont Mutual, I started working on an IBM System 38 and participated in the migration to the AS400 system doing extensive work in data and source file analysis for the migration. While working on these systems I have become familiar with subfiles, CL, Query, SQL, SDA, DFU, RPG III, RPG 400 and associated programming areas and functions.
On the microcomputer side I am familiar with word processing, specifically Wordperfect© and PC-Write; spreadsheets, Lotus© and Multiplan©; and database
managers, dBase III+, Zoomracks, PC-File and others.
While working at other businesses I have become familiar with IBM System 34 & System 36 systems, and have done PC work with stand-alone PCs, communications, and networks.
Fremont Mutual is a property & casualty underwriting company in Michigan. I have gained some AS400 experience there, though most of my work was on the very similar IBM System 38. Since we did have a small MIS staff at Fremont Mutual, I gained knowledge of the insurance industry in the areas of accounting, claims, policy services, rating, and normal office functions. I found that I very much enjoy analysis & design in conjunction with problem solving.
I strongly advocate good internal/external documentation and am familiar with presentation, graphics, and desktop publishing.
Lastly, for your consideration, I would mention that I do have management experience in the retail services area, specifically restaurant
and computer/electronics retail stores.
Thank you for your consideration.
Respectfully,
Bob Johnson
