| A major inverted coaster...that'll have you screaming |
When it debuted in 1997, people knew it was big, I mean really big! Not only was this constructed form world famous designers B&M, but its lift hill was 195ft., one of the biggest for an invert. at that time. Its max speed is a little under 70 mph, which when it debuted it was the fastest invert! As you wait in line you get the sense that you are going to take a ski lift ride up in the Alps (ALPengeist)with yodelling music playing a ski warning signs. Its even more themed in the queing area.
Once you're in those ever so comfortable B&M invert. seats, you get a feeling that the 195 travel to the top isn't going to be present. The chain clicks, very softly though and you can get an excellent view of BGW and surrounding areas. Once you're at the top you swing right and swoop at a steep angle and then come to a gigantic loop to give you a taste of whats to come. What comes next is awsome: It features B&M's excellent diving loop (Immelman), a wierd heatline roll by the log flume, a surprising picture taking oppertinity.
At the end, Alpie wraps up a great ride by sending you "crashing" into a a hut of some sort, and as the "cous de gras" two helix's that will push your body to the max!! The next time you're at BGW head immediateley to Alpengeist towards the back of the park (DOH!)and for best pleasure rigd it at night ;) Alpie is my #1 coaster, so why can't it be yours?
*BCOASTERS RATING* (OUT OF 10)
SPEED: 9 (could be a tad faster)
INVERSIONS: 10 (from the Immelman to the heartline, excellent)
SURPRISES: 10 (crashing throught a shed?)
FINALIE: 9 (just two heliex's..once again could be a tad better)
EXCITEMENT: 10 ("10" says it all) |
