| The Story of Baybee Ayleeyin Baybee Ayleeyin's Summer Vacation Chapter 5 At the Hotel The three of us sat out on the lanai. We had a fabulous view of the ocean. We were close enough to hear the waves breaking and smell the salt air. We could hear the children laughing and playing in the sand at the shoreline as the waves washed away each of their sand creations. Surfers were riding the waves in, paddling back out and repeating the routine. A windsurfer was farther out from the shore letting the wind drag him away from shore and back towards it. The sky was a beautiful pale blue and the breeze was so gentle. The deep blue ocean was as clear as a fish bowl. From our hotel room on the 9th floor, we could see a coral reef at the bottom of the ocean a few yards form shore. We could even see fishes swimming in the water near the swimmers' feet. "Baybee swim with fish later?" He asked looking at me with his big black eyes. "Sure." I said. "We will all go swimming tomorrow. It is getting a little late now, Baybee. We have to get ready for our luau tonight. You need an aloha shirt." "We need muumuus or sarongs or something." Darla said. There was a robust knock at the door. Baybee jumped up to answer it. "Let us get that, Baybee." Darla said. "You can't see through the peep hole to see if it is a stranger." When Darla opened the door, there were four other aliens in aloha attire smiling at us. Baybee ran over to them and gave them each a hug. In turn, they each placed an aromatic strand of green leaves, four maile leis, around Baybee's neck. They each had dainty orange leis, ilima, for Darla and I. "This Baybee's family." Baybee said. (Week 4) |
