Yes, you heard right. This is the biggest surf event to come to the UK ... ever!!
The worlds top echelon of women surfers including six times world champion (1998-2003) Layne Beachley, and 2004 champion Sofia Mulanovich, will be coming to Cornwall at Perranporth this May to comepete for the first time at the Roxy Jam while also promoting a Breast Cancer awareness programme.

Northern Surfers 'Board for Life' in Support of Tsunami Appeal

On Saturday 9 April 2005, a group of surfers from Manchester and the North West will join local wave-riders in Hells Mouth, North Wales, to host a surf festival called 'Surf Relief North,' in aid of the Tsunami appeal.
Backed by the British Surf Association (BSA), Surf Relief North will represent the region's contribution to a national 'Surf Relief Day,' to raise funds for the devastated communities of South East Asia. Simultaneous fund raising events are being held on beaches in Newquay and Llangenninth.

Student Nationals Review...

Nick Tiscoe, representing Plymouth University Men's team defeated Christian Boletta (Plymouth), last years winner James Hick (Exeter), and Nick Dowrick (Swansea) in a very close final. Nick managed to select two good waves early in the heat and perform a series of radical manoeuvres, forcing the other surfers to play catch-up. The men's team title was retained by Plymouth University.

Tsunami Surf Relief UK

Last week a shell-shocked aid work team from Tsunami Surf Relief UK (TSRUK) returned from Sri Lanka reporting concerns over the distribution of aid in the region. Dave Manley, Chairman of TSRUK and part of the visiting working party, explains "Two months after the wave struck, the situation on the ground remains poor in many parts of the country - not only have people lost loved ones and their homes but their livelihoods have also been destroyed. They have nothing."
