They may be rejects, but we still wanted an interview with them.

1. Can you give us some band history, including any previous members and what they're doing now?

We formed in around 1997 when myself (J) and Doozer decided to start a band after we met each other through college. We've had two drummers before settling on the baby-faced Guv two years ago. The ex-drummers were Glen Hoodless, who now drums for the Rawk/heavy metal band Rostock, and Will Evans, who left to concentrate on his other band, Cheese rockers, No Absolutes.

2. What is the current line up?

UNCLE J: Guitar/Vox
DOOZER: Bass/Vox
THE GUV: Drums/Sex Icon for the teenagers

3. How did you come up with the name The Rejects?

We lack imagination.
DOOZER: J said so, he was in the band 3 minutes before I was.

4. What other bands influence the music you play?

J: Any band we've being listening to recently. See, evidence that we really do lack imagination.
DOOZER: I have to agree; my biggest influnce is booze.
GUV: I was first of all into Green Day, then other bands by J and
Doozer...more punk rock.

5. What is your favourite song / album of all time?

J: Favourite song: "Punk Rock Jock" by Assorted Jelly Beans. Favourite album: "Back in Black" by AC/DC.
DOOZER: Favourite song: "all outta angst" by NOFX. Favourite album: "Casual Sex in the Cineplex" by Sultans of Ping F.C.
GUV: Favourite Song: "What's my age again?" by Blink 182. Favourite Album "Pump up the valium" by NOFX.

6. What is your favourite song from your own set list and why?

J: Receeder: Because we accuse Graham Gooch of being a vain bloke who's
scared of going bald. (It makes me laugh anyway)
DOOZER: Dave the Punk -it's short, sweet and to the point (It's 0.5
seconds long)
GUV: Terry's Gone - Coz it was written around my drum beat...and it rocks.

7. Apart from punk / ska, what other music do you secretly like?

J: Jazz/Metal/Disco (the proper 70's stuff)
DOOZER: Metal/Folk/Drum 'n' Bass/Cheese/and music that scares people.
GUV: Metal/ RAWK/Beethovens' 5th symphony/cheese/shed.

8. What music did you grow up listening to?

J: Mainly The Pistols, Sham 69, Madness and Bad Manners.
DOOZER: Carter USM, Sultans of Ping F.C., Folk stuff from me Dad, Metallica, Pantara, Terrorvision, Levellers.
GUV: Green Day, Niranva.

9. What's the most memorable gig you have ever played?

J: A gig in Brentwood when we finally managed to play 20 songs in a half hour set.
DOOZER: The one where J was so pissed he couldn't stand...I have it on
tape somewhere.
GUV: The one where our mate Dangerous dropped his glasses down the drain, destroying Doozer's bass, the police came along and wished him luck on his quest with the top half of his body down the drain (oh and it was my first gig).

10. Do you regard music as a vein through which to project your views, political or otherwise, or is it an issue of money and given the chance you would "sellout" like The offspring and Green day have?

J: Our gigs are just an excuse for us to act like the twats we are on stage, and insult people. If we did end up "selling out" it would probably be because people like the way we take nothing seriously. I reckon it would make a nice change.
DOOZER: Yeah our music is a "vein through which to project your views,
political or otherwise" coz it's not a thing of money coz we hardly ever get paid. Would we "sellout", if you mean get paid large sums of money to play then hell yeah, if u mean to change the style of music, dunno.
GUV: I'm not vain but we're gonna rawk the fucking world. Only joking its just
a laugh.

11. What advice would you give to any up and coming bands?

J: Never listen to us. We know nothing.
DOOZER: Put on a good show, there's nothing more boring than to watch a band who just
stand there. Talk to your audience they are your friends. If not tell them to fuck off.
Oh yeah, don't get an under age drummer; some venues can be right cunts...the Rock Garden don't ever play there/go there or even spit on it. They are a bunch of poo face willy knockers. (wanna know why ask me later)
GUV: Getting success is about who you know not what you know. Oh Yeah and who's cock u suck.

12. Any final comments?

J: Er, Never listen to us, we know nothing. But visit our website at: http://listen.to/therejects
DOOZER: Two's company, three is fucking great.
GuUV: Never get caught with a canvey bird behind a hall in a carpark, with your trousers around your ankles. Also ladies J's available and hasn't had it in a long time. Please help. "Let's get J a Shag (hes not gay really)" is a registered charity, charity no.:584893 69 please send donations in sealed airtight containers.
