| Fancy a pint? |
| "You're always the best band in the world after a few pints!" (STEVE) |
1. Can you give us some band history, including any previous members and what they're doing now?
STEVE: Right
We started in 1996 for the simple reason that we needed something to do. We were bored. So we started a band, me and some other guys. Steve the singer joined the band about 15 minutes after we started, cause the singer we had the first 15 minutes sucked. Haha (Sorry Måsen). None of us knew how to play our instruments, so everything went on quite slow in the beginning. We switched members a few times over the years and we made our first recording in the end of 1997 and it turned out as our Raised With Violence Ep witch our friend Peter Punk released under the name of Alcoholic Records. We changed members, recorded some more stuff that hopefully never will see the light of day, changed members again
and suddenly it all just felt right. We found our current setting, Steve - vocals, Spike - bass, Kimmo - guitar, Micke - drums. We recorded four new songs in late 1998 witch came out on Helen of oi Records in early 1999 as Wake up screaming 12 Ep. We had a few gigs around Stockholm and during the summer we recorded a full album witch will be out on Pure Impact Records at about the end of 2000. We then had our first gig abroad, at Ungdomshuset in Copenhagen, Denmark. Late 1999 we also recorded three songs witch now can be found on a split Ep with the Smalltown Criminals from Germany on Run Amok Records. And here we are now.
2. What is the current line up?
STEVE: Its me STEVE on vocals, SPIKE on bass, KIMMO on guitar and MICKE on drums.
3. How did you come up with the name The Pints?
STEVE: Well we couldnt come up with any other name so since we love to drink beer
We thought THE PINTS was a fun name.
4. What other bands influence the music you play?
STEVE: Hmmm, I really dont know. I guess it's bands like THE VARUKERS, DISCHARGE, SOCIAL DISTORTION and all the old school bands.
5. What is your favourite song / album of all time?
STEVE: Hmmm, thats a tough one. I think my fave song of all time would have to be ALTERNATIVE with the EXPLOITED and the best album
Any album of the RAMONES.
6. What is your favourite song from your own set list and why?
STEVE: Ohh shit I hate all our songs! Hahaha. If I had to pick one it would be GOOD LIFE from our 7 split cos the lyrics are really good and, well, I dont really know...hmnmmm.
7. Apart from punk / ska, what other music do you secretly like?
STEVE: Well I like Sinatra a lot, hahaha, and a lot of the old hard-rock bands like AC/DC, Sabbath and so on.
8. What music did you grow up listening to?
STEVE: I listened to a lot of Wasp, Twisted Sister and of course all the old punx band!
9. What's the most memorable gig you have ever played?
STEVE: That would have to be our gig in Denmark 'Cause we were all way toooo drunk! hahaha.
10. Do you regard music as a vein through which to project your views, political or otherwise, or is it an issue of money and given the chance you would "sellout" like The offspring and Green day have?
STEVE: Hell! We just play cos its fun!! And to have a chance to do something for the REAL punk scene!
11. What advice would you give to any up and coming bands?
STEVE: hahaha, Drink more beer! You're always the best band in the world after a few pints!
