LOWLIFE-"Now And Again"
Probably one of the best live bands performing in the U.K today, with their tongue-in-cheek humour, bold as brass arrogance and loud as fuck hardcore played at 100 M.P.H, LOWLIFE churn out some brilliant cider-swilling anthems. But does this c.d show that LOWLIFE have a lot of potential? Well somewhere under the poor production is a great album, infact every song could be a classic, such as "Not Me", "I Don't Think So", "Banned From The Pubs", "95 Die" and "O.A.P Anthem". There are 15 tracks on this c.d played in under 23 minutes. So be warned, if you like Punk Pop; LOWLIFE ain't the band for you!
Outstanding Tracks: "Not Me" and "95 Die" (AO)
NOHOPE WUNDERS-"Muthapunkers"
NOHOPE WUNDERS are a group of 4 very talented musicians who are bound to go far. This very smartly presented 4-track is an ecclectic mix of styles, which, accompanied by their witty americanisms, great lyrics and superb vocals, makes this cd an asset for any compilation. The cd kicks off with "The man who sneezed and blew the world away", an impressive, fast, thumping tune which exhibits the band's musical flair. The following 3 tracks demonstrate their ability to use a variety of different styles. "Loser" and "The cat came back", 2 up-beat, singy ska songs, are followed by "The song changes but the tune stays the same", an angsty anthem which brings this cd to an end leaving you simply wanting more!
Outstanding tracks: "The man who sneezed and blew the world away" and "The song changes but the tune stays the same" are personal favourites, but all 4 tracks are outstanding! (JO)
TURTLEHEAD-"I Preferred Their Earlier Stuff"
With a sincerity and clever musicianship running right along side the 'feel good' and often anthemic atmosphere that they easily project, it makes no sense at all why on earth they gave the record such a laughable title. TURTLEHEAD are one of those bands who take pop-punk humour in one hand and honest clarity and power in the other and juggle them effortlessly. "Gary d" kicks off in a big way and "Godsend" and "Hot Trout Action" are instant classics. They play from the heart, but with huge smiles on their faces - serious fun. They do it all with such ease as well, they rule.
Outstanding tracks: "Gary d", "Godsend" and "Hot Trout Action" (MC)
