Extra lives
For quick extra lives, go to Gemini Man's stage and travel until you
find a robotic duck that releases small penguins. Stand in front of
it, leaving a little space, and keep blasting the never-ending supply
of penguins, only stopping to grab lives and needed power-ups left by them.

How do you defeat the first Dr. Wily?
When you first see Dr. Wily, he's in a machine with 2 pin-like legs. To
defeat the first part use the Hard Knuckle on the gun on the bottom of
the "Pinbot". You'll have to jump and shoot at just the right time. His
shots are easy to avoid. When you destroy the gun, Wily appears in
the machine. To easily beat him, use the Rush Jet. Fly up to his level
and shoot rapidly. You can avoid his shots easily with the Rush Jet.
Follow these tips and he'll be defeated. When you fight Gamma, first
stand under him and attack with the Shadow Blade, after the first head
is gone, attack the second head by climbing to the highest platform and
jump at his Wily's face with the Top Spin and he'll be history.

Get the Rush Jet or Rush Merine
I discovered a glitch that lets you get either the Rush Jet or Rush
Merine before you defeat the appropriate bosses. To get the Rush Merine
you have to defeat Spark man and be quick, just move your icon to
where the RM would be and press start. You'll have the Rush Merine, but
it will be empty, so you need to fill it up and use it. Repeat the
procedure after you defeat Shadow man to get the Rush Jet.

Shadow Man's stage tip

In ShadowMan's stage, the lights sometimes go out and you must fight in
the dark. To turn the lights back on, either run until the darkness-generating
machine is off-screen or use Rush as a trampoline to jump up and destroy it.

Invincible

If you lose all your life while in a hole (by getting hit by a falling
enemy or enemies weapon), you'll be invincible (however, you won't be
able to shoot mega blaster beams and won't beprotected against
the things on the walls that make you lose a life in one hit).
Warning! If you regain energy, you'll lose your invincibility.

Slow-motion
Holding up on Controller 2 will cause all animation to go into
"slow-motion." Movement will continue at the same rate, but
the animation will be slowed. This may present a problem,
as enemies will advance at the same speed as before, but
Mega Man will not move until he stops the "leaning forward"
animation and begins to run. This can be used along with the
super-jump by holding up and right.

Freeze the boss
Just as a boss fight begins, hold up and press A on Controller 2.
This will freeze everything. You will be able to shoot and jump
up. Kill the boss while he is frozen.

Hints
While doing the super-jump trick, you cannot die in pits. Also,
if an enemy moves across the top of the screen while Mega Man
is hiding in a pit, Mega Man will take damage. If his energy meter
runs out, he will be completely impervious to damage. He cannot
fire his Arm Cannon, though, and it ends if he picks up any energy
pellets.

Weird stuff
Using the Super-jump technique, before the Proto Man encounter
in Gemini Man's stage, slide into the area where Proto Man will
beam down and before the slide ends, super-jump through the
platform he will stand on. You will hear the entire Proto Man
intro music, but nothing after that. Also, a lot of weird
things will happen. Try it and see.

Jump very high
If you hold Right, on Controller 2, and then press A on Controller 1,
you will jump very high.

Control the Pharoh shot's movements
You can control the Pharoh shot's movements by pressing up or down
when it is released. This is helpful when fighting Dr. Wily's final
contraption because it has a tendency to appear at the very bottom
of the screen where other weapons can't reach it.

Weapons and the bosses
Here are the weapons that work best against each robot
Drillman use Dive Missiles
Ringman use Pharaoh Shot, it is especially deadly on Ringman when
charged up
Dustman, use Ring Boomerang
Skullman use Dust Crusher
Brightman use Rain Flush You only get a 1 to 1 ratio of energy used to
damage done. But it does do a fair amount of damage in a shot.
Brightman is also the only one who really seems to be effected by
this weapon.
Pharaoh man use Flash Stopper Again, this is the only boot that this
weapon is really effective on, and once more, you will use up all you
energy to defeat Pharaoh man. But he's really easy to defeat now.
Diveman use Skull Barrier Use a DFA, or death from above tactic.
That is the most effective way I have found to tackle Diveman.
Toadman use Drill Bombs

Geting energy tanks
After beating Skull Man go back to level and get energy tanks when you get
to Flip-Top if he doesn't give you what you want do not accept it, go down
the ladder, go back up, don't get off the ladder. Repeat as necessary.

Finding the hidden balloon item and wire weapon
To find the hidden balloon item, go to Pharoah man's stage. When you
begin, cross the quicksand pit, and you should see a BIG hole leading
down. Normally, you would jump down to continue, but instead, use Rush
coil to leap over it. Walk off the screen, and you'll come to another quick
sand pit! Cross it to get the balloon weapon. Also, to get the wire weapon,
which is good on Dr. Cossack, Go to Dive Man's stage and look for a very
small hole. Jump down it and avoid the spikes lined on the walls. Then
you'll get the wire! These are very helpful items!

Hidden energy tank
On the very first Dr. Cossack stage, move all the way to the left edge of
the screen from the starting position. You can't see it, but there is an
energy tank hidden there in the snow.

Passing the second set of robots before Dr. Wily
Having trouble getting past the second set of robots before Dr. Wily?
At the beginning of the stage get the energy tank in the corner. Die
until the continue/password screen. Get the Energy tank, die until
continue/password screen. Repeat until you have 9 energy tanks.
Now you have a fighting chance against the second set of bosses.

Fighting Drill Man
To defeat Drill Man use Dive Missile and charged up Pharaoh Shot.
When he drills into the ground jump back and forth.

Fighting Dr. Wily
Having trouble fighting Dr. Wily on the very last level? Charge up
Pharaoh's shot but don't fire it! Instead jump around with the charged
shot. Eventually your overhead shot should hit Dr. Wily's ship. Repeat
the pattern while dodging Dr. Wily's shots. Note: If you have left
over energy tanks you may use those during the battle as well.

Boss tips
A pattern you should use is Skull Man, Toad Man, Dive Man, Pharaoh
Man, Ring Man, Drill Man, Dust Man, Bright Man. Against Dive Man
use up all of Skull Barrier then use MBuster. Against Toad Man MBuster
is his weakness when he tries to jump on you move out of his way, turn
and shoot, repeat until dead. In Dive Man's level there are 2 robot
whales, after beating the second whale jump over the spikes and into
the hole dodge the spikes and if you make to the bottom you will find
Wire. In Pharaoh Man's level go past the quick sand, walk up to the
hole, but instead of jumping in use Rush Coil and jump over, you
will have to go through more quick sand, after doing that you will
find Balloon, after that you will be teleported to the middle of the level.

Ring Boomerang tip
The Ring Boomerang, although not too effective against Skull Man,
will penetrate the Skull Barrier.

Geting the Energy Tank at the end of the third Dr. Cassock stage
To get the Energy Tank at the end of the third Dr. Cassock stage,
use the Baloon and slide through the tiny opening. Do not grab the
can and slide back before standing up, though. You could instantly
blow up.

Use the Wire as a weapon
Believe it or not, the Wire can be used as a weapon. When
fighting Dr. Willy in his skull contraption, stand directly under him
when the armor is blown off. Extend the wire when standing directly
under the sensitive point in the vehicle. The Wire uses 2 cells of
energy and only inflicts 1 cell of damage.

Pharaoh Shot doesn't use energy
To kill with the Pharaoh Shot without using energy, power
up a shot, then hit something while the shot is still building.
Press Start then resume play and power up the shot again.
Repeat as needed.
