Dodge Copperhead
In keeping with the reptilian theme, Chrysler once again "breaks the mold" with the unveiling of a new prototype, the Dodge Copperhead. Released at the 1997 Detoit Auto show, it took center stage among other cars like the new Corvette C5. With its scale-like interior and tire tread, it is truly a unique concept. Its front and rear wheels, placed at the far corners, make the Copperhead sport a low, sleek look. Surprisingly, this car is 3 inches longer than a Viper, yet it has a wheelbase of an additional 12 inches. John E. Herlitz, Chrysler Corporation's VP, was quoted as saying "If Dodge Viper is credited for re-inventing the Shelby Cobra, then [the] Dodge Copperhead should be credited for re-inventing a car in the tradition of the Austin Healey 3000". As to the Copperhead being produced, there is still no word; Let's just keep our fingers crossed.
