Aston Martin DB7
*Bond, James Bond* - this is the phrase most people associate with Aston Martin. However, the heritage of this marque extends far beyond their provision of various models to the producers of the 007 films over the years; the company was for example a competitor at LeMans in both the pre- and postwar periods. While a substantial part of Aston*s history involves racing, it is for the DB series of road cars that the firm is best known. Current owner Ford decided to revive the DB moniker for Aston*s latest offering, the DB7. The design borrows heavily from the parts bins of fellow Ford acquisition Jaguar, mating modified versions of the XJS platform and the XJR sedan*s supercharged inline six. While Jaguar*s similar XK8 is by no means a common sight, you can be assured of exclusivity in the Aston - the company expects to produce only a couple of hundred units each year, in both coupe and ragtop forms.
