He has about 38 years of work experience consisting of First 4 years of Research at the Indian Institute of Petroleum Next 10 years of Marketing Speciality Fuels and Petroleum Products Next 7 years in Marketing Petrochemicals Next 15 years in managing the business of speciality chemicals And Last 2 years in managing the trading activities + + + + WORK EXPERIENCE AND ACHIEVEMENTS Started career as Research Scientist at the Indian Institute of Petroleum (IIP) after undergoing 2 years of training at L’Institut Francais du Petrole. At the IIP, was in charge of the Combustion Section dealing with the efficient use of petroleum fuels in domestic and industrial appliances. Published three papers and collaborated on a Patent on the use of Naphtha in high intensity furnaces. While working for the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), was responsible for technical service on the use of automotive and industrial fuels and All India marketing of petrochemicals (Benzene and Toluene) and petrochemical feedstocks (Naphtha, Aromatic extracts, Coke) and special fuels (Low Sulphur Heavy Stock). Handled a heavy arbitration matter which resulted in an award of Rs.720 mio. to the IOC. All the Indian Petrochemicals Corporation (IPCL), was initially responsible for All India marketing of Chemicals and succeeded in adding a number of new chemicals to the product range. Later, as Regional Manager, Bangalore, was responsible for the marketing of Polymers, Fibre intermediates and Chemicals of IPCL in the entire southern region. Finally, as Senior Manager (Mktg), was overall in charge of marketing of chemicals and marketing services on All India basis. At BASF India, was responsible for the operating division and profit center “Leather Chemicals” as well as the Logistics department. As the Chief Executive of the profit center reporting the Chairman & Managing Director, was responsible for all aspects of the leather chemicals business viz., manufacturing, marketing, finance, personnel and research and development. The leather chemicals business which was making a loss in the eighties was turned round in two years to become the most profitable division of the Company ever since. Was also a Director on the Board of BASF India Ltd.. Presently at Indchem, am responsible for the overall management of the group companies which represent leading Indian manufacturer of leather chemicals and overseas manufacturers of adhesives, finishing chemicals, shoe components and machineries to the shoe industry. Apart from streamlining the marketing activities and managing Inventories and outstandings, have resurrected a losing business and brought up a new agency business. |
