| 1. Treat people the way you want to be treated. 2. Just because you have a majority doesn't mean you can ride roughshod over a minority. Accommodate the minority whenever you reasonably can. 3. Do the hard thing. Nobody gets the Nobel Prize for doing what's easy. 4. There's nothing wrong with doing the easy thing, provided it's also wise. 5. Spending money as a substitute for thinking is never wise. 6. Side with the less powerful against the more powerful. When government sides with monied special interests, the public loses. 7. Just because people are silent doesn't mean they don't have opinions. 8. The absence of dissent is the absence of thought. 9. Secrecy breeds suspicion.  |
