Ive tried to make this the most complete walkthrough, with every detail. Its very easy to read, and Ive split it into sections, in case you lose your spot. If you do, just look for Section 1, Section 2, etc.
Enjoy this Walkthrough!
Section 1
Your poke gold/silver adventure starts in Wakaba Town. You start in your room, so go down the stairs. Your mom should walk to you, and talk to you. She gives you Pocket Gear. Set the date on your gameboy, now. Go out of your house, and look around the town. Now, its time to get your first pokemon. Find the largest building of all, the Pokemon Lab, and enter. Professor Utsugi will be in there, and hell talk to you. Now, its time to get your first pokemon! The pokemon available are 1. Chikorita, a Grass Type, 2. Waninoko, a Water Type, and 3. Hinoarashi, a Fire Type. (If you personally think yourself not that good at pokemon GB, then choose Hinoarashi for an easier time in gold/silver. If you like to challenge yourself, then Chikorita is the pokemon for you.)
Now, its time to really start some of your still long-way pokemon journey. Go west, (which is ß way on your gameboy or computer) and youll eventually come to Yoshino City. Go find the very old man thats standing around somewhere, and hell give you a very quick tour of the town. Then, hell go inside a house. Follow in, and he will give you the Map Card. Enough of that, lets move on. Go to Route 30, and head on. You should meet Professor Oak in the only building there. You will receive Pokedex, and a Strange Egg. (Togepi) Leave the house, and go back to Yoshino City. On the way, youll get a phone call from Professor Utsugi. Hell say something terrible has happened. As you go back Route 30, into Yoshino City, your rival will encounter you. (hes the kid that kicked you away from him back in Wakaba Town.) Hell have the pokemon thats strong against the one that you have chosen. Battle him, (its easy, his pokemon is LV 5, and has no strong moves.) and head back to Wakaba Town. Be sure to build up some levels on the way, youll need it for the first gym leader. (hes not in Yoshino City) When, in Wakaba, go back to the Pokemon Lab. Professor Utsugi will tell you that your rival, the guy you fought back in Yoshino City, has stolen the pokemon that he fought you with. You then, make up your rivals name. Professor Utsugi will take that so called "Mysterious Egg" and breed it for you. When you leave, Professor Utsugis assistant, will stop you. Hell give you five free pokeballs. Head back to Yoshino City.
----End of Section 1----
Section 2
Go to Yoshino City, talk to everyone there, build up some levels for your pokemon, and heal up at the pokemon center. Its time to go onward. Head north, until you reach Kikyou City. Look around for a Bellsprout, because youre going to want an Onix, right? A boy in Kikyou will trade an Onix for your Bellsprout. (When trading, the level of the pokemon that you traded away, will be the same for the one that you receive. Example, if you trade a LV 7 Bellsprout away, the Onix that you receive will also be LV 7.) When you reach Kikyou City, head west. Find a house, and enter. There should be a boy, and he should be the one that will trade you an Onix for a Bellsprout. Trade with him.
The next thing to do is to head to the pokemon center. Heal up, and head north. Go to Bellsprout Tower. Go inside, and there should many monks in there that all use Bellsprouts. (Why Bellsprout?!) (Your starting pokemon should be around LV 18-22 now. If you chose Chikorita back in the lab a long time ago, then it should be even higher. If you chose Hinoarashi, youre on the right track. You should have been building up some levels on the way.) Now, keep fighting the monks, and keep going upstairs. Oh no! Its your rival again. But, looks like he isnt in the mood of fighting you this time. Thats good
.
Well, beat all monks, and encounter the Monk Master. He should, I think, have a Bellsprout, and Hooh-Hooh. Beat him, and receive the HM01 Flash. Go downstairs, and leave the tower. Its time for your first gym now. Head on to the Gym. (If you have Onix, then train it hard, because it could be pretty useful for you, since this gym leader uses bird pokemon)
----End of Section 2----
Section 3
Well, are you ready? Here goes. Enter the gym. Go to the gym leader, and fight him. He should have Pidgey, LV 7, and Pidgeotto LV 9. Not too tough, right? Beat him up, and hell give you the Wing Badge. It lets you use HM01 Flash anytime. Your pokemon should be worn out by now, so head on to the local Pokemon Center. Huh? Professor Utsugi is there waiting for you! He comes over, and gives you that "Mysterious Egg" that you left him back in Wakaba Town, remember? But, you should make sure not having more then 5 pokemon at that time, or else you wont have an open slot to receive your unknown egg. The egg will hatch after some time, and its like I said before, Togepi. Now, the next part is optionally. Go south, and there should be a cave or something like that. Enter, and there is a puzzle. Try your best, and finish all four. Finish them, and youll fall down somewhere. Go south, building up your pokemon levels, and catching any pokemon you see. (you can now start buying pokeballs at poke marts too.) Try to find the end, and leave. Hiwada Town is nearby, and near that town, is something like a well, but its guarded by a rude Team Rocket dude. Anyways, head west, and go to the very north house, and enter. A man will come out, and you should follow him. Go to the well, and the Team Rocket guy is gone for good. Beat the few Rockets there, and the girl boss. Rescue all the Slowpokes, and talk to the man. Now, heal up, train some levels onto your pokemon, and prepare for your second gym.
This is a totally buggy-type gym. Fire would work good, but grass, wont. Hell give you the Insect Badge, which also allows you to use HM05 Cut. Now, leave, explore, talk to all the people there, and head west. Keep going, and youll come to Ubame Forest. Enter, and there should be a guy standing right in front of you Hes lost his dear Farfetchd, and hes asking a favor of you to go and try to find the Farfetchd.. Go east, and youll find a Farfetchd. Try to trap the Farfetchd against a wall or something, and force south, and then west, back to the man who you meet before. (The guy with the lost Farfetchd) Give him the Farfetchd. The man will give you HM05 Cut. (Now you can use it.) Keep exploring, and theres also a guy with a lost Geodude that will give you a TM. Now, there should be a bush somewhere. Go to it, press A, and say yes. (You can only do it when a pokemon of yours knows cut.) Go forward, enter the building, and keep going. Go out.
----End of Section 3----
Section 4
Youre now on your way to Kogane City. Fight all trainers, train up some LV, or instead go to the big building, the Pokemon Daycare. Enter it, and there should be two people. An old man, and an old woman. Heres what you can do. You can give a male pokemon to the old man, and have him breed it. Or, you can give a female pokemon to the old woman, and shell breed it for you. (Every step that you take means 1 experiment point for your pokemon in the Daycare Center.) Or, you can even crossbreed your pokemon. Give a male pokemon to the man, and give a female pokemon to the woman. (They must be the same exact pokemon, only that a ditto would work for both male and female.) If you did this, you can come back later on to find a little baby pokemon that was breeded. You can take it, but you should leave the two other pokemon for experiment points. Explore this town. Go around, and find a Bike Shop. If you have a Bike Voucher, good job. You can get a bike. Now, that thats over. Go to a house on the very left. There should be a man to give you a free Eevee. If you think that your pokemon are not in shape of fighting, then I recommend you to go train your pokemon up quite a lot of levels. Now, you should enter the gym. This gym uses many normal pokemon. Like Clefairy, Jigglypuff, and Mirutanku. Defeat the Gym Leader and receive you prize, the Regular Badge. It lets you use HM04 which is Strength. Now go to the left, and enter a black, huge, building. Go to the lady at the right behind the counter, and shell quiz you. Answer her by YES, YES, NO, YES, NO. If you get them all right, shell give you a Radio Card. Now go north, and go to the right-most house. Inside, theres a garden, and a girl should give you Squirtle Water. Take the Squirtle Water. Go out, and find the Nature Park. You can even play a Bug Catching game here. Now, leave the Nature Park. Head east, and then north, until you find a plant there. (It wiggles around when you go next to it.) Use Squirtle Water on it. Its a Usokki. Capture it, because its LV 20, and its the only one in this game. Now go right, and talk to this fat man that was staring at the plant that you just took care of. Hell thank you, and hell give you TM08 Rock Smash. Teach it to a pokemon, and now you can smash rocks. Now, head west.
----End of Section 4----
Section 5
Battle everyone on the route there, and you should be building up some levels on the way. Keep going, and you soon enter Enjiu City. When in that city, explore, and definitely train up a lot. Now, enter the local gym. Al trainers in there use ghost pokemon like Haunter, and Gastly, and Gengar, so you should consider bringing some Psychic pokemon. Efui, Eevees evolved form of a Psychic pokemon, and Butterfree would both do well in battle for you. Fight all the trainers in there, but watch out. There are some invisible pit holes in there, and if you fall, youll be sent back to the beginning of the gym. Now, heres what you do. Go straight in front of the first trainer, and walk right. Then. go in front of the second trainer, and walk left. Then so on and on. Fight the gym leader. Now, defeat him to get the Phantom Badge. It allows you to use HM03 Surf. now leave the gym. Look for a house with a sign outside that says the "Eevee Dancing Girls" or something like that. Go inside, and battle every single one of the dancing people on the stage. They all use Eevees evolutions, which includes Joltean, Flareon, and Vaporeon, Efui, and Yanyan. When you complete those battles, go down to the man with the hat. Hell give you HM03 Surf. Now go to the tower at the north. A pokemon of yours should know TM08 Rock Smash. Fight all the trainers, and go to the inner-most pit hole using Rock Smash. Fall down, and youll meet the Legendary dogs. Theyll all go in different directions. Youll meet them at various times in the grass in places. Theyll never attack you, but every time you hit them, theyll run away. Theyre LV 40 each. Get out of the tower, heal your pokemon up, at the Center. Now, go west. There are some trainers around, but theyre no big problem. Youll also pass a Miltank Farm, and you should try to feed the sick Miltank as many Nuts as you can. Explore the farm. Now, go to Asagi City. Asagi is a pretty big city, you should be able to tell. Unfortunately, nobody is in Asagi Gym right now. So, you gotta go find the gym leader! Youll meet your rival around there, but amazingly he wont wanna fight you (he has to pee) So, go left, and youll find the sea. First, there should be a man somewhere thatll give you HM04 Strength. Keep surfing, youll pass many caves, (youll pass past a cave, where later on in the game youll be able to find Lugia, which is silver version only).
Keep surfing until you reach Taban City.
----End of Section 5-----
Section 6
During surfing you may notice a set of islands that are blocked by some whirlpools. That island is called the Floating Island. Later, this is where you would find Lugia. (Silver Version Only) You are now in Taban city. Be sure to have HM 04 before you enter the gym. In this gym, they all use fighting pokemon, so have a psychic or flying pokemon. Defeat the gym leader and get the Shock Badge. I think hes got LV 28 Primeape, and LV 30 Poliwhirl. It allows you to use HM 05 Fly. Then in the city, a girl standing next to the gym, the one that says "I dont think anyone can beat the gym leader." gives you HM 05 Fly. Before you go, be sure to talk to the salesman south of the gym. He gives you an item. Equip fly on your pokemon then use your pokemon to fly back to Asagi city. There is a lighthouse near the southeast coast of the city. It is the Asagi Lighthouse. Go inside and upstairs, and fight all of the little dudes. Survive to the top, and you'll find the Gym Leader Mikan hiding out here. Talk to her and give her the item that you got from the salesman. She will leave the tower and enter the Gym. Go back to the gym with her and challenge her to a match. There are no trainers here. It's a one on one battle. Mikan uses steel type pokemon. She uses 2 Magnemites and a steel Onix. so for the first two, use a ground pokemon, and the last one, a water pokemon (Steel is weak against water). Defeat her and get the Steel Badge. Fly back to Enjiu City and go east through the Mortar Mountain and reach Chouji Town. In Chouji Town there is a man in the east area and every time you want to pass the way, he charges you 300 yen but he doesn't let you go. What a rip-off! The gym in Chouji town is blocked so go north through a building. Be careful! There is an easier way on the right hand side, but every time you pass it Team Rocket members will charge you 1000 yen! So I recommend that you go along the grassy area in the left. Reach the Angler Lake, and there is a Gold Gyarados. Beat it or capture it, then go ashore. Then Lance appears (the one in the Elite Four). Talk to him and he gives you an item. then go back to Chouji Town and go to the to the store next to that fake who charges 300 yen. Go inside and Lance is there. He leads you down the secret staircase. It's the Team Rocket base. Everytime you cross a statue, at least two rockets would battle you successively. They would either use Rattatas, Koffings, or both. A psychic would come in handy. Defeat them all and talk to everyone. Get the key from the bookshelf near a computer at the lower right. Defeat the boss. Go back and open the door. Then the boss and a woman show up. Lance shows up and asks if he could fight with you. Cooperate with Lance to defeat the bosses. Go inside the power source and you'll battle 6 electrodes. You and Lance would each defeat 3 Electrodes. When you defeat them, Lance give you HM 06 Whirlpool-Crasher. Go to the gate where the team rockets were, and the gatekeeper would give you a TM. Go back to the Chouji gym now. The gym is a huge ice puzzle, and everyone uses ice Pokemon. A fire or electric type would come in handy (What did I tell you about the electric sheep). Defeat him and get the Ice Badge. It allows you to use HM 06 Whirlpool-Crasher.
----End of Section 6----
Section 7
Fly back to Kogane City and enter the Radio Tower. You will discover that it has been invaded by Team Rocket! Defeat each member and go up and up. Talk to the gentleman and he gives you the key for the prison. Go to the underground tunnel in this city and there is a passage leading to the prison. Open the door and go downstairs. Your rival would then appear and challenge you. After you beat him, go and heal your pokemon then return and defeat the 3 guys standing there, and switch the 3 switches next to the 3 guys on the wall to open the stone doors. Fight the Team Rocket members, and rescue the man and he will give you the key to the door in the radio tower. Go back to Radio Tower and open the gate on the 3rd floor and battle all the trainers. The two bosses are here again. Defeat both of them. All the people there thank you. Now, fly back to Chouji Town. Go east, and the man is no longer there. Go east and into the Ice Loophole. Just solve the Ice puzzles, but before you get out, be sure to catch ice pokemon (for the eighth gym). Note: Be sure you get all the items in the ice loophole since one of them is HM07, which is waterfall-up. You can't go to the Elite Four without it. Enter the Last Gym. Make sure you have Pokemon with Strength. Everyone here uses dragons so train your ice pokemon first, before defeating the gym leader. Defeat her but she doesn't give you a badge, because she thinks shes lost it, in which she didnt. Surf and get into the Dragon Cave north to the gym. You could find Dratini's only here, so be sure to get one. Surf again and crash the whirlpool and find the item. Pick it up and immediately Ibuki shows up. She gives you the Raging Badge which allows you to use HM 07 Waterfall-Up. Since you have all 8 badges, you are now ready to defeat the elite four. Fly back to Wakaba Town and find Professor Utsugi. He gives you a Master Ball. Then surf along the river to the east. Go into the cave and inside is the Tojou Waterfall. Use Waterfall-Up to climb. Get out of the cave and the girl in the house gives you a TM. Walk along the path and defeat all trainers. Go into the building at the end of the path, and there are three passages: the left one and the right one are blocked. Go along the middle one. The Victory Road is now easier than in the R/G/B/Y. You'll run into your rival again. Defeat him and you'll reach Indigo Plateau. Note: Don't talk to the old man in the left, he'll teleport you back to your house. Use it only if your pokemon have really low levels or you want to buy cheaper healing stuff. Go upstairs and battle the Elite Four. Some of the trainers are from R/B/Y. I don't want to spoil the excitement so I'm only going to give hints. The first one uses psychic pokemon, the next one is Koga, The third one is Bruno, The fourth one uses Evil type pokemon. After you defeat all 4, you would beat Lance (They should have called it the elite 5). If you defeat him, you are now the League Champion!!! After that, Prof. Oak and your mom would be there. Lance would then put your pokemon in the hall of fame. The credits would scroll and... The End, or is it? After the ending, you are in Wakaba Town. Find Professor Utsugi and he gives you the Ship Ticket. Fly to Asagi City and enter the south-most house. Walk along the passage and at last you reach the dock. Go aboard the ship. S.S. Anne? Defeat every trainer, so the sailor would let you pass. Visit the captain of the ship and talk to the girl next to him. Now leave the ship.(NOTE: Do not return to the ship or you will be trapped!) and SURPRISE!!!! You are now in Vermilion City!!! You've just taken a trip back to the original pokemon world!
----End of Section 7----
Section 8
Go to the pokemon fan club. Talk to the president and he gives you an item. Then talk to the man below the president and he would give you a Clefairy Doll. Defeat Lt. Surge. Defeat him and get the Orange Badge. Then go north to Saffron City. Go to the psychic's house and he would give you a TM. Then go to copycat's house and give her the Clefairy doll. She would give you a ticket that allows you to use the train from Saffron to Kogane City. Go to Sabrina's gym. and defeat her to get the Marsh Badge. Head west to Celadon City. Head to Erica's gym and defeat all of her plants to get the rainbow badge. Go west, through the Cycling Road and reach Fuschia City. Go to the gym, and defeat all the trainers. They all use poison type pokemon. Beat the ninja master to get the pink badge. Go east and north to go to Lavender town. A man at the radio tower in Lavender would modify your radio card. Go north to the rock tunnel, make sure you have Flash. After going out of rock tunnel, surf in the canal to the power plant. Talk to the man at the reactors. When you get out, a messenger would talk to the scientist. Head west to Cerulean city. |
