It was a quiet Friday afternoon and the final bell had rung for school. I found Justin and Matt waiting for me by the flag. Justin was a serious Pokémon trainer but Matt was just doing it for fun and I had started hanging around them so I had no Pokémon of my own. Matt had all electric Pokémon. He had a Pikachu, an Elekid, a hot headed Magnemite, his prize posession Electrode, and an Eevee that he loved very much and who would become Jolteon after he had saved up enough money for a Thunder stone. But Justin couldn’t stick to one type. He collected what he called "psifire' pokemon. He had a playful vulpix, a Kadabra who didn’t always follow orders and just evolved from Abra, a mischieveous Haunter, a loyal Growlithe, a lazy Drowzee, a Charmander, and an odd Mr.Mime. Justin could almost always defeat Matt at Pokémon battles. Today they were going into the forest for some bug Pokémon to use against Jermy’s Graveler. Jermy, Matthew, and Steph were the top Pokémon trainers in the school who bullied all of the outher Pokémon around. Jermy used rock type Pokémon, Matthew used grass Pokémon, and Steph used any Pokémon that she could find, steal, or have given to her by Matthew. "We better get out of here before my Magnemite gets any ideas about fighting Matthews Machoke," said Matt.
" Shold we go to the forest near town or to Viridian Forest?," I asked.
"There are better Pokémon at Viridian Forest, but if we went there we would have to cross Mount Moon," said Matt.
"Let’s go to Viridian Forest," said Justin. "I could get my hands on a Zubat to trade for Cindy’s Psyduck and your Pikachu could get a workout along the way so it can become stronger for the ZAP championship. Plus, Josh could see how you catch a Pokémon when I get the Zubat."
We went to the Pokémon center so we could rest our Pokémon up for a little wile and so Justin could get his Charmander and let Nicole watch Haunter. We passed the bike shop and saw Nicole trying to get her Slowbro to obey her commands outside of the Pokémart. "Hey Nickole, said Justin, why don’t you give that Slowbro to a real trainer like me?"
"Shut up, Huffman, said Nicole. What do you want this time?"
" I was wondering if you could take care of my Haunter", Justin replyed.
"I will if you can take care of my Slowbro for awile, said nicole. My mom will only let me have 1 Pokémon in the house at a time"
"I can look after your Slowbro for awile" I said.
"Well I am desperate,” Nicole said sadly, “you can keep an eye on the Slowbro. But don’t do anything dumb."We went into the Pokémart and we bought four Pokéballs and a potion for our trip. Then we headed over to the Pokécenter and Justin got his Charmander. When we got inside Mount Moon it was surprisingly empty.
" I wonder where all the Pokémon went," said Matt.
" It looks like they were scared off," I replied.
"There's a Zubat!," said Justin. Go, Charmander!" The Charmander came out of the Pokéball and was ready to fight. "Charmander, use Ember!" The Charmander shot out a stream of flame and hit the Zubat dead on, knocking it to the floor. Then Justin let his Pokéball go and he caught the Zubat. The Pokéball flashed and it was sent home to his younger brother through the PC. "Good job Charmander,” Justin said, “you can have some rare candy." Justin gave the Charmander some candy and the Charmander creed out a “CHAR!” to say thank you. We got out of the mountain without getting in any other fights.
" I hope the forest has more Pokémon then that mountain,” said Matt, “my Magnemite is getting restless." On our way to the forest we heard a cry. It was a Jigglypuff being attacked by a Meowth trying to get the quarter the Jigglypuff had.
" We have got to help him!" I cried.
"I'll take care of him,” Matt said, “Pikachu, use ThunderBolt!" A flash of lightning surrounded the meowth and left him flat on the ground. But then a Weezing came and used Smog on Pikachu and an Arbok came and used Bite on Charmander. The Meowth got back up and used Scratch on Jigglypuff.
"Slowbro go!" I cried out, and Slowbro came out of the Pokéball for the first time ever looking alert. "Use Headbutt!” I yelled. And for the first time Slowbro actually listened to orders and Headbutted the Meowth. The Meowth growled and started swiping wildly at Slowbro. "Slowbro, use Metronome and copy Payday." Slowbro learned Payday and Meowth’s money went clear to the outher side of the mountain. The Meowth chased after the coins and disappeared. The Jigglypuff ran up to me and started thanking me(or at least I think it was thanking me).
I turned around and saw the Weezing fried and the arbok burnt. Then we heard two voices come from behind us.
" You little brats you beat our Meowth!” said the male voice. Then there was a female voice…
"Prepare for trouble!"
"Make it Double!"
Continue on! "To denounce the evils of truth and love!"
"To extend our reach to the stars above!"
"Jessie!"
"James!"
"Team rocket blast off at the speed of light!"
"Surrender now or prepare to fight!"
"Meowth that’s right!"
" IT CAN TALK!," we all said in amazement at Meowth.
"That is all we will take from you,"said James. Then James sprayed a superpotion on all of his Pokémon. "Finaly, a Pikachu,” said James, “Giovanni is going to like this."
"Go Arbok, get the Pikachu!" cried Jessie. The Arbok wraped Pikachu and and began to choke him. Then Jessie threw a Pokéball and took the Pikachu when it was weak.
"Wow, Jess,"James said. "Taking a cute Pikachu from a kid is really stooping low....."
"Shut up you baby," Jessie said and slaped James on the head.
" Team rocket blast off!" They both cried out and were gone as fast as they appeared.
"Give me back my Pikachu!", Matt yelled.
"Let’s get our out our Pokémon and teach those rockets a lesson," Justin said. On our way back we visited the Pokécenter to heal Justin’s Charmander. Every time I looked behind my shoulder I saw the Jigglypuff following me.
"Why do you keep following me?" I asked the Jigglypuff. The Jigglypuff responded with a PUFF,PUFF, JIGGLYPUFF and a smile.
"Alright, fine,” I said, “you can stay with me until you want to leave." When we got to the Pokécenter the nurse told us that there was a message left for Justin on the PC. We went over to the PC and the message read: Justin this is Kyle. I am going to meet you in Viridian Forest, but mom said I need your permission so E-mail me
PS. your Zubat is really cool but mom doesn’t like him.

Justin read the message and began to reply with the following E-Mail message. Kyle, bring me and Matt’s Mr.Mime, Kadabra, Growlithe, Electrode, Elekid, and Eevee to the Pokéecenter in Virdian. It is very important and I will raise your Clefairy until it learns metronome if you do.
"Do you think we can count on him?" I asked.
"Yes,” Justin replied, “he is too lazy to raise his own Clefairy" After waiting for 10 minutes we saw Justin’s brother running toward the Pokécenter.
"Justin, Justin I’ve got your Pokémon!” Kyle said eagerly. "What do you need them for?"
"I will tell you but you can tell mom" Justin replied."Team Rocket stole Matt’s Pikachu and we are going to get it back."
" TEAM ROCKET!!" Kyle said surprised."LET ME COME WITH YOU OR I'll TELL MOM!"
"Tell mom and I won’t raise your Clefairy" Justin replied.
"Darn it!" Kyle said "I guess I'm stuck, see ya at dinner."
We made our way to Pewter city and again not finding any Pokémon or trainers along the path untill we were almost at the city gates.
"Look over there," I said "It’s Jason."
"It looks like Team Rocket got to him" Matt said. He was right when we got there the bug catcher Jason was beat up and his Pokémon was gone. "What happened?" Matt asked.
" Team rocket came by taking all the Pokémon with a superstrong Gengar and I tried to stop them with my Tauros" Jason replied. "Then they beat me and my Tauros up and took all my other Pokémon away."
"How many of them where there?" I asked.
"Nine," Jason replied. "And they each had three Pokémon."
"NINE!!!" Justin said. " How are we going to beat 18 Pokémon with 8 Pokémon?"
The Jigglypuff started to speak with an angry face in protest.
"Ok, make that nine Pokémon."
"We won’t have to, we can separate the group," I said.
"Matt and I will distract them wile you go up against Jessie’s Pokémon."
" Ok I guess we should get to Pewter City," Matt said. "We will get your Tauros back if we can"
We were very alert on the rest of the way to Pewter City and were careful not to make a noise. When we got to Pewter City it was awful. All the Pokémon were stolen, the houses, Pokémart, gym, and Pokécenter were all in shambels.
"Ok Matt and I will take care all of the rockets wile you get Jessie," Justin said.
I saw Matt and Justin run off near the gym.
" WHAT! BROCK, ASH, AND MISTY CAME BACK TO PEWTER CITY!," Matt yelled loudly.
"THOSE ROCKETS ARE GOING TO GET IT NOW," Justin also said loudly.
In hearing this the rockets got their Pokémon ready and we saw that the one with the glasses had Jason’s Tauros.
" Ok Kadabra please listen to orders for once," Justin pleaded. "Teleport the Jigglypuff over to the Tauros, let the Jigglypuff put it to sleep then Teleport it behind the gym" The Kadabra just looked at Justin and replied with a sort of a smile and a KADAB.
" Ok Jigglypuff," I said. "Go over to the Kadabra so he can Teleport you to the Tauros. Sing the Tauros to sleep and then let the Kadabra Teleport you back to me."
The Jigglypuff responded with a PUFF,PUFF and went over to the Kadabra.
"KADABRA KADABRA. DABRA KADAB." said the Kadabra " Puff,Puff jigglypuff," the Jigglypuff responded.
Then the two Pokémon teleported over to the Tauros. Jigglypuff began to sing a sweet song that put the Tauros and two rockets to sleep. Then they were both teleported back to the gym. Then Matt took one of his Pokéball and the Tauros was s ucked inside by a red beam of light.
"Ok, we can take care of the other three rockets, you get my Pikachu."
The Jigglypuff and I saw Jessie near the Pokécenter. When she turned around she caught a glimpse of us.
" Hello you little brat, I have had enough of you," Jessie said "Go, Koffing!"
" Go, Slowbro," I yelled and the Slowbro came out in the same alertness as before. The Koffing used Acid but the Slowbro barely felt anything. Then the Slowbro used Confusion and confused the Koffing. In its confusion the Koffing started to use Smog on Jessie.
"EEK!," Jessie screeched, " Get away from me. Ok you can have your dumb Pikachu, just get this thing off of me!"
" Jigglypuff put the Koffing to sleep," I commanded and the Jigglypuff did so.
"Alright you little brats," Jessie said, “Here is your Pikachu. Team Rocket is blasting off again!"
As soon as she finished that sentence a light flashed and all the rockets were gone. The rockets left behind a mangeled city and a small Pokéball containing the Pikachu.
"Matt, we got the Pikachu back!""Lets get back home after we stop at the Pokécenter," I said.
"No, lets do what we came here to do and catch some bug pokemon," Justin said.
" But our Pokémon are barely able to stand after the rocket attack," Matt said. "And what Pokémon is powerless enough to weaken them so we can put them in a Pokéball, its not like they will just stand there and let us catch them..."
We all instantly looked at Jigglypuff, who knew what he had to do.
"We can have the Jigglypuff sing them to sleep then catch them," Justin said.
" Will you do it Jigglypuff?,"I asked. This Jigglypuff was strangly always following orders. I hoped it didn’t belong to anyone else because I wanted to keep him but why else would he be carrying money around? As usual the Jigglypuff responded with what I have concluded means yes, with a PUFF PUFF.
"Great!," Justin said. "Let’s get going before those rockets over there wake up."
"Wait a sec!," the familiar voice of Jason said. "Do you have my Tauros?" he asked.
"Yeah, here," I said as I handed it over.
"Congradulations!," Jason said wile taking the Pokéball. "You have passed my test, take these Three TMs for Megapunch,"
"How did you get these?," Justen asked
"All gym leaders have them," Jason replied. "After Brock was gone they chose me to be the new Gym leader, but I couldn’t stop them by myself so I thought I could make some good come out of it and have a trial."
"Thats great Jay," Justn said, "Be ready to hand over three of those Boulder badges sometime soon,"
"My Tauros will be waiting, and Josh, take this."
Jason then handed me a Pokéball labeled Dratini.
"Wow, Jason thanks!," I said with a large smile. "I'll be seeing you around."
We stopped before entering the forest so I could teach my Jigglypuff Megapunch. Jigglypuff knew what a TM was and learned it without any explaining. I knew then that I was not this Pokémon’s first owner.
When we got to the forest we were afraid to go in. All the Pokémon that should have been in Mount Moon retreated to the forest.
"Ok Jigglypuff, see those two worm Pokémon, sing them to sleep quickly," I said.
The Jigglypuff had no fear of the Geodudes and Zubats in the forest at all. He began to sing when a Geodude hit him with a rock. The Jigglypuff let out a cry of pain and turned to the Geodude. He Megapunched it but only hurt his hand on the rocky surface.
" Go, Dratini," I yelled and let my Dratini out of the Pokéball. The Dratini used Watergun and the Geodudes rock became soft.
"Take advantage of the soft rock and use Tackle!"
The Dratini tacked the Geodude into a tree and it ran while a large chunk of the Geodude fell off.
The Jigglypuff learned "FLOAT" from the battle and sang the worm Pokémon to sleep without interuption.
"All right," Matt said as he put them both in Pokéballs. "Let’s get home and start raising these Pokémon."
"Kadabra, could you teleport us back to Matt's house?" Justen asked.
Kadabra just looked at Justen and turned his back.
"I think we need some badges," Justen said. "My Kadabra and your Magnemite are starting a mutiny of Pokémon."
"That is why I am going to be in the ZAP championship tomorrow. I hear Lt. Surge will give the thunder badge to anyone who can defeat him.”
"Then we had better get back or your Pikachu will be too tired to fight and will be defeated easily.”
Upon hearing this Kadabra started his teleport move.
"It seems he will do something for the good of other Pokémon, but not for you or any other person," I said.
"Great!" Justen said. "I got the only good sameritan Kadabra in the world."
As soon as Justen finished that sentence we were standing inside Matt’s bedroom. Matt and Justen took their new bug Pokémon and put them both in Matts old fishtank with some leaves and twigs.
"They should hatch in a few days," Matt said.
"We will let you prepare for the big championship and go now," Justen said.
The next morning Matt was tense and couldn’t concentrate on anything in school(except when Mr.Leader started telling storyies about when he was a kid and he had Pokémon.) He just sat through the classes staring off into space thinking of a plan for the big championship. He even took Lunch and Recess to talk to his Pokémon. And when we finaly got home he was even more tense.
"Guys, it’s time to go, come on!" Matt said eagerly.
"Hold on! I need to record the growth of these bugs," Justen said.
"Matt and I will meet you there later," I said as Matt and I walked out the door.
When we got to the championship we saw everything from Elekid to Lt.Surge’s beautiful Zapdos. We then heard a voice over the loudspeaker.
"Ladies and gentlemen, Welcome to the 9th annual ZAP championship. There will be 8 starters, 4 semi-finalists who will recive a TM for Thunderbolt or buzzap, Two Finalists who will recive A TM for Thunder, and the winner will take on Lt.Surge for the Thunderbadge, thunderstone, and 10 ultaballs!
"I have got to win that Josh!.......Josh?" Matt said as he looked around. After Matt said that Justen and I came walking in each with a thunderbadge!
" I went easy on you," said the large figure in the doorway. I didn’t have my Raichu, or Zapdos."
"How did you get those?" Matt asked excitedly.
"We defeated Lt.Surge, and we both got a TM for Thunderslap," Justen said.
"But he didn’t have his best Pokémon," I said. “ If he did he would have creamed me and my Jigglypuff."
"Will all competitors please enter the arena so we can start the battle for the semi-finals and a TM for buzzap or thunderbolt," The announcer said over the loudspeaker.
"I guess it’s time for me to see just how good I really am," Matt said as he steaped up to meet his first chalanger.
"You're going down," said a framiluar voice.
"What are you doing here, Nicole?" Matt said.
"Trying to win the thunderbadge, what else?" she replied. “ Sorry I lied about the whole only one Pokémon thing but I needed to train. And it looks like it’s me vs. you first....and I know just the Pokémon to use on you.”
“Go Meripu!" What looked like an electric sheep came out of a great ball.
"Ok, fine, if you want beaten so badly, Go Magnemite!" Matt yelled and let his Magnemite out of its pokeball.

The Meripu attacked first with a spark ball that slammed into the magnemite. The Magnemite let out a cry of pain and hit the ground hard.
"Get back up and use your normal attacks!" Matt cryed out.
The Magnemite used meagapunch followed by bodyslam and sent shocks through Meripu so strong it paralyzed him. Then Magnemite used his megapunch again until Meripu had an expression of pure pain on its face.
"Good job Meripu, you tired him out, now finish him off Electabuzz!"
"Great job magnemite," Matt said, "Now try for anouther round. I knew Matt made a mistake by not sending out his Electrode because Electabuzz was a very powerful Pokémon that could easily take care of Magnemite.”
"Use the attack we worked on all week, Electabuzz," Nicole yelled at her Pokémon.
Then a Storm cloud formed above the outside arena but no rain fell. All of a sudden a Thunderbolt came down and hit Magnemite hard.
MAGNE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, Magnemite cried out.
"Magnemite, come back before you get yourself killed!" Matt yelled.
"I don’t think he is listening," Justen said while he struggled to keep his Kadabra from going in to help the Magnemite.
The Magnemite got up with a face of fury. He moved toword the Electabuzz with great speed and started buzzing around him throwing little punches into the rivel Pokémon. Electabuzz swiped wildly at the Magnemite but he was just too fast. Magnemite’s punches got stronger and Electabuzz got very frustrated, and started to hurt badly. Then Magnemite megapunched Electabuzz so hard he was out cold before he could be called back.
MITE!!!!, the magnemite said triumphantly.
