JEFF POMERANTZ
> Beginning professionally in Hollywood while still a teenager, I have been acting for over 40 years. I was in the US infantry during the Vietnam conflict and in 1966 flew to England to audition for RADA (in my army uniform). Six thousand miles for six minutes on stage! I got in so I assume the uniform helped! After RADA, I had a number of jobs as a series regular (starring in a number of "soaps" in New York for many years) while also performing on Broadway [EQUUS w/ Richard Burton, THE RITZ, THE LEAF PEOPLE; Off-Broadway (5th OF JULY w/ Jeff Daniels, MUSEUM w/ Dianne Wiest), and many, many more], in addition to pretty regularly guest starring on numerous prime time shows and the occasional movie. *** In 1985, in response to a plea to the industry by Nancy Reagan (and having watched very talented, very close friends destroy themselves with drugs), I founded "Hollywood Says NO To Drugs" and "Hollywood Kids Say NO To Drugs Honor Roll." I enlisted the help, on a one-to-one basis, of celebrities and stars in many areas, collecting support from hundreds in music, entertainment, and sports. I returned to England with the program, soliciting English stars and celebrities to join the anti-drug fight. Lord Olivier, Derek Jacobi, and Andrew Lloyd Weber were among those who came forward & Princess Di used my pen to sign an anti-drug program in an event at Westminster. *** As a result of my efforts I was invited to the White House (w/ John Travolta) to meet the President & the First Lady, and to present the program I had created. From that meeting my life has not been my own and, at this point, I have traveled over 2 million miles to some 32 countries, participating in events (at which I certainly use my skills as an actor to interest, educate, & entertain) and successfully raising funds (literally millions) to fight drug abuse, support drug rehabilitation, eliminate illiteracy, and end the psychiatric drugging of children. I have spoken at the UN in Geneva and stayed in every black township in South Africa
during apartheid. It has been quite an odyssey. *** I have continued to work professionally as an actor throughout this time by doing Voice-Overs for the same studio for over 15 years. Attended RADA from 1966-1968.
