Recently, a friend of mine came back from her first visit to Armenia and gave me the biz card of Christian Cultural Ministries International's founder and president's card. Namely Levon Bardakjian, M.Div. On the card is a link to their website: where you could find more details. There, one of the subject links is "Requests" which fits this "wish list" that I started.
I'll list here what they need for the summer camp:
"CCMI invites sponsors to support our summer camp by supplying us with whatever they can from the following list of camp requirements:
computers to teach the children computer literacy
sweaters enough to give to 400 children
sheets enough for 60 beds
pillows for 50 beds
food enough for children for a period of three months
petrol for the transport of children and materials "
for more details as how to contact them, please visit their site,

Dear visitor,
I recently received the following e-mail from an Armenian Doctor. Do you know anyone who could help him out? Here is the content of the e-mail:
"PLEASE HELP AN ARMENIAN DOCTORS RURAL HOSPITAL, SITUATED IN MEGHRI:-
I am Dr Ashley Vanic Minas, an Armenian born, brought up and qualified in India and son of Major General Vanic Minas( The only Armenian General in the Indian Army). My family, consisting of wife Flora, daughter Siroon aged 10yrs,Son Vanic aged 8yrs and Baby boy Tigran (born in Meghri, Armenia) have since the dark days of our country in 1994 have settled down and opened the FIRST LICENSED wholly Private Hospital in Armenia; in Meghri and have been running it since.
Minasian Medical Centres forerunner was Minas Medical Centre,Benin City, Nigeria where I had been working since 1984. I am a very experienced Surgeon Obs/Gynae.In early 1994,my family and I visited my fatherland as tourists and witnessed the suffering of our people first hand; I was immediately smitten with remorse and swore to do the only thing I knew for sure I had the God given power to do my bit to change their situation in any small way, for the better
.I am a doctor and that is the only thing in life I know for sure I am good in; so I felt that was the best way to help my people,ie, to start a Hospital in rural Meghri,Sunik Region to help to improve the health care of the region and give employment to the people.( The then Minister of Health, Mr Babylonianwas instrumental in advising me to open my private Hospital in Meghri as it was in the regions that the need was most felt and my specialisation of Surgeon Obs/Gynae would be most useful). This we did by closing our Nigerian Hospital(in any case we found it impossible to run two Hospitals so far apart, with me being stationed permanently in Armenia) and shifting all our equipment to Meghri.Ours is a self financed Medical Centre and is on very nominal payment basis; our charges of present are some of the cheapest in the country( even more moderate the that of the Government Institutions) and furthermore what makes it all the more convenient for the patients is that we are totally selfsufficient in equipment and drugs etc. When a patient is seen by a doctor he has nothing else to do apart from paying a nominal fee, as he is supplied all his treatment from our hospital Pharmacy and all procedures,operations/deliveries are done with dressings etc supplied by the concerned departments.
In the six years since we opened our Meghri Hospital our country has undergone unrecognisable changes for the better; but unfortunately these changes have NOT HELPED MEGHRI region at all; year after year we have witnessed the condition of the people worsen financially, what with most, if not all the people unemployed and those that have found jobs are not paid their salaries for sometimes upto a year at a time (sometimes I think we must be the only institution in the region that by hook or by crook have ALWAYS paid our salaries on time). We have somehow survived along with no help from either the Armenian Government or from our diaspora Armenian Associations. The situation has now become unbearable financially for my dear family and myself and the time has come that I feel I am now starting to neglect the condition of my own family for the sake of our Hospital. ONLY OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST HAS SAVED US SO FAR. .Shutting the doors of our Hospital is NOT an option for in these six years our institution has become an essential part of the community and has made a tremendous difference to the health care delivery system of the region and particulary to the people of Meghri and its surrounding villages.
I am forced to take the plunge and ask for financial help/ sponsor/equipment for our Hospital from all/any of our Armenian brothers of the diaspora or our very own Armenian Philantrophic Organisations if possible. You or/and your organisation could not help our dear fatherland better than in helping our rural Hospital as you are sure that the help is being used for the people it is being sent for and not being diverted into other private coffers or buying foreign cars, villas etc.I am sorry I have to make this observation .
We would be only too pleased if our Hospital finds adequate financial assistance/Sponsors to subsidise our charges even more and make treatments even more affordable or even transform into a free Hospital so that ALL our patients; rich or poor can afford the same high standard of treatment. Meghri and neighbouring Agarak have over 100 bedded Government Hospitals with over 20-30 Specialist doctors in attendance but the local populace, after six years of dedicated work by our Hospital staff, trust our treatment and care so much that these other Hospitals are only open as a shadow of themselves as many of the Government Hospitals in this country are.
Anytime you visit Armenia I would take it as a privelage and honour to have you visit us, be our guest and see for yourself the work we have done and continue to do here, in far away Meghri .
