Young Medics Association in Armenia

The biography of the Armenian inventor of MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) which detecs tumors painlessly, Dr. Raymond V. Damadian is in the January 2000 issue of Current Biography magazine. A Machine Called Indomitable (1985) by the former New York Times business reporter Sonny Kleinfield, offers a profile of Damadian and an account of the development of MRI technology. In 1978 he formed his own company FONAR (Field Focused Nuclear Magnetic Resonance to manufacture NMR scanners. He wants to introduce innovations to the MRI to overcome the shortcomings of the X-ray mammography machines and eliminate the indignities suffered by women patients...
