Nick at this point was on his second bowl of frosted flakes as
Alex, Rachel, and Cassie sat down at the table and began to eat.
Derek entered the kitchen as the ladies were eating, and he wasn't
pleased. "What the hell is taking so long?! Ladies, have you just
started eating? Nick, aren't you almost finished? How long does it
take you people to eat breakfast?!" Derek bellowed.

"Hi, Derek. What's with you this morning?! You don't have to be so rude!
Yes, we just started eating. I had a hectic morning-so I didn't eat at home.
It takes time to make homemade waffles, and not every one gulps down their breakfast like you do, Derek." Rachel stated matter of factly.

"Sorry, every one for being rude. I had a conference with Sloan
via satellite-it wasn't pleasant. He believed that there was a better
way to handle the portal situation, than demolishing the House.
There's going to be an inquisition by the London House." Derek
said to them in not such a happy voice. He then left the room and
headed for the conference room.

"This gonna be one helluva day! When Derek is in a mood, watch out!
Rachel, maybe you can talk to him-get him in a better mood cause
I don't want him on my case all day." Nick stated in a not too sympatheic voice.

Rachel glared at him and said,"Nick, he said that he was sorry for
his behavior. He had a rough morning. You know how that last inquiry
turned out with Cross...Horton. Nick, I surprised that you're being
so hard on him...weren't you the one who stood up for him when he
was accused of murdering Reed Horton."

Embarrased by his lack of compassion for his precept, Nick said to
Rachel,"I'm sorry about what I said. You're right, Rachel, I was the only
one in this House who believed that Derek was incapable of murder
and covering it up. You, Alex, and Kristin were ready to feed him
to that shark."

Cassie was confused by who Nick and Rachel were talking about, so she
asked,"Who's Cross and Horton?" Nick told her that he would explain to her the whole Cross/Horton incident at another time. They all left the table and headed for the meeting with Derek.
