Derek's office
He was finally finished going over his paper work and was
getting up from his desk when the phone rang. He picked it up
and said, "Derek Rayne."
The voice at the other end said, "Hi, Derek, it's Gary."
"What can I do for you?" Derek asked him. He took out a piece of
paper from the draw to write down the info.
"I have some info that you might be interested in. Grant Harrison
is back from the dead...apparently he made a deal with the soul catcher.
He's heading or may allready be in San Francisco. I tried calling you
the other night, but didn't get any answer." The precept from Chicago
House said.
"Thanks for the info, Gary." Derek said to him and then hung up
the phone. He got up from his desk and went to find Nick. It was raining
even harder now and the lightning was more frequent than before.
Cassie's room
The young woman was still unconscious and thrashing about.
Nick was pacing around the room because he was worried about Cassie.
The pacing was starting to get to Rachel. "Nick, why don't you get
some rest? Or at least sit down." She said to the young man.
"I don't want to leave her, Rach. I have to move when I'm
nervous." He replied to the blond.
Derek entered the room. "How's Cassie, Rachel?" He asked.
"The same. I was hoping that she would regain consciousness by
now." Rachel stated. Thunder rumbled and a bolt of lightning lit up
the pitch black sky. "I wish the storm would let up so we could take
her to the hospital." She added.
Derek walked over to Nick and put his arm on his shoulder.
"Nick, I need you in the control room...something has come up."
The precept said to him.
Nick gave him a look then replied, "I don't want to leave
Cassie, Derek."
"Nick, I let you know the moment she wakes up. Working will help
you to clear your mind." Rachel said as she walked over to where he was
standing. Nick and Derek left the room and headed for the control room.
The control room
"What's so urgent, Derek, that I had to leave Cassie's bedside?"
Nick asked is boss in an annoyed tone.
"I'm sorry, Nick that Cassie's sick, but we've got work to do.
I recieved a phone call from Gary Sinclair about a Grant Harrison...
apparently he made a deal with the soul catcher. I want you to find out
any information on him in the Legacy database." Derek said to his young
colleague. He then left left the room and headed upstairs to talk to Kat.
Kat's room
She was on her bed reading a magazine when she heard a knock on
her door. "Who is it?" She asked in a sweet voice.
"Derek, Kat. I'd like to have a little chat with you."
Kat got off the bed and opened the door for him, and she noticed that
he had a serious expression. "What do you want to talk about?" She again
asked sweetly.
"Are you practicing witch craft again?" He asked the young girl.
"No. I promised mom that I wouldn't do that anymore. Why do you
think that I'm doing magic?" Kat stated to the older man.
Derek looked at her suspiciously. He had a vision of her lighting
candles and casting a spell to make Cassie ill. "You weren't too pleased
when your mom told you about the new living arrangements. This room
wasn't yours anymore; so maybe you thought by casting a spell, you could
make things the way they were before."
"I didn't cast any spell." She replied and then yawned. "I'm
tired, Derek. Are we finished?" He nodded and closed the door behind him.
"Boy that was so easy. He believed what I said to him. I wonder if he'll
say anything to mom."Kat thought to herself as she shut the light.
Cassie's Room
Derek entered her room and saw Rachel looking out the window. He walked
over to her and put his arm around her shoulder. "I think Kat is practicing
witch craft." He whispered to her. Rachel turned around and glared at him.
"How can you say something like that, Derek. What makes you think that?"
She asked him moving her hands. "Do you think she's responsible for making
Cassie sick?" The precept shook his head.
"Yes, I do Rachel. When I was in Kat's room, I had a vision of her putting
a spell on Cassie. I could be wrong, but I doubt it."
Rachel slid a stray lock behind her ear as she said, "I'm going to room
right now. If your wrong, you owe me and my daughter a big apology."
She left the room and went to Kat's room.
