The garden
Cassie is doing Ballet moves-it helps her to relax. She's wearing
a black long sleeved unitard and on her feet are black Chinese slippers.
Her long, wavy, golden-brown hair is pulled back in a loose bun. Early
morning is Cassie's favorite time of day-it's when nature is waking up.
It's a sunny day which she's pleased about-it's been a while since she
has seen the sun shine. It was foggy most of the time in London, and since
she has been in SanFrancisco, the sun was out only once. She was lost in
thought remembering her days as a professional dancer in London. She
missed living and dancing there-most of all she missed her two
sisters, Miranda, her twin and Angela, her older sister. Cassandra gave
up dancing professionally after she became anorexic-dancing and attending
college was too much for her. After her stay at a London Hospital, Cassie
went to live with her grandfather who was a member of the London House.
Her grandfather, Bill Martin Sr.,wanted Cassie to follow in his footsteps
and become a member of the Legacy. Bill believed that Cassie had what it
took to be a member of the Luna Foundation since she was intelligent, analytical and had the sight. Her aunt Paullina, who's a member of the Paris House also has the sight-not as strong as Cassie. Six weeks after Cassie arrived at the London House, her grandfather died of a heart attack. Three weeks later, she's a member of the SanFrancisco House. Cassie hasn't lived in the U.S. for five years. She has visited friends and relatives of hers in the Chicago area.
Nick is watching Cassie dance, and Nick being his childish self, walked in
back of Cassie and shouted, "Boo!" Cassie, who has been lost in thought fell
to the ground startled. As is was getting up, she said, "Why did you do
that, Nick?"
Nick replied with a big grin on his face, "You were in another world; so I
thought it would be a funny thing to do to you." A little annoyed, Cassie
said,"Well, I didn't think it was funny-it was immature. Do you do that to
the others, Nick?" |
