Bay City-Winthrop Residence
Lila Roberts Winthrop had just put down 9 1/2 month old Jasmine for her
nap when the doorbell rang. She ran from the baby's nursery to the front
door. Lila almost fainted when she opened the door and saw Grant Harrison
standing on her porch. In her southern drawl she said to him, "I thought
you were dead."
With a smirk on his face, he replied, "You thought wrong Lila, dear.
You look lavishing...lavender is such a nice color on you."
In an angry voice she said to him, "What do you want from me?"
"Aren't you going to let me in, Lila, dear? I thought that you being
married to a lawyer would teach you some manners." Grant said to her.
"Why, Mr. Harrison, would you like to come inside?" Lila said in her
southern drawl. She was mocking him. Lila let him inside the house and
led him to living room. As he sat down on the peach chair, he said
to her, "Have you heard from Cassandra lately? I would like to get
in touch with her."
Playing with her long brown hair, Lila replied, "No, I haven't heard from
Cassie...not since Vicky's death. She's angry with me over the whole diary
buisness."
Grant got up from the cozy chair and went over to where Lila was sitting
on the peach couch. He grabbed her wrist and said, "Don't lie to me, Lila.
I can hurt you and your two children. How's that baby of yours, mmm?
Is Charlie home from school?"
"You wouldn't dare hurt them." She said to him.
"You should know me better than that. Where is Cassie living?" Grant asked
Lila.
With terror in her voice, Lila said, "She's living in SanFrancisco."
Grant left the house and headed for the airport. After he left, Lila called
Gary Sinclair.
Chicago Legacy House
Gary was at his desk doing paper work when the phone rang. "Sinclair, here.
How can I help you?"
The frantic female voice on the other end said, "Gary, Grant was just here.
He wanted to know where Cassie was. I didn't want to tell him, but he
threatened Jasmine and Charlie."
"It's okay, Lila, calm down. You did the right thing by calling me."
Gary said to her in a soothing voice.
"She's going to be fine. If anything happens to her, I won't be able to
forgive myself." Lila said to him.
He told her that everything would be fine and hung up the phone.
Gary then called the SanFrancisco Legacy House but couldn't get through.
