Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's (Philosopher's) Stone.

A man named Vernon Dursley is going around town one day. Everything seems strange to him and many other "muggles". He comes home the next night and asks his wife if he's heard from her sister today. Mrs. Dursley just frowns. That night Mr. Dursley finds himself watching a group of three talking in the streets. The people lay Harry down at the Dursley's doorstep with a note.
About ten years later he goes to the zoo. Somehow, the snake cage broke and the Dursley's think it is his fault.
Soon, he gets letters from no one inparticular. And the Dursley's are so annoyed from all the letters that they rent a cabin.
On Harry's 11th birthday, a gigantic person breaks down the door of the cabin. The man was furious when he found out Harry wasn't getting the letters.
The man called "Reubus Hagrid" tells Harry about his past. About how he is a wizard, how he beat up the darkest wizard of all time, "Voldemort".
Mr. Dursley insults an old wizard who is headmaster at the school Harry will be attending to learn how to use powers. Hagrid gets really mad when Mr. Dursley does so.
Later... Harry goes to a place called "Diagon Alley" to buy stuff for school and he even buys an owl (as everyone is supposed to have an animal). He even meets people he doesn't know but they know him because of his great victory. He meets a boy he'll be going to school with at the robes shop but doesn't have a clue who Harry is (Harry's scar doesn't show).
Harry meets a new friend on Hogwart's Express named, "Ron Weasley". They have fun eating Every-flavored-beans (which they literally mean "Every"! One of Ron's twin brothers think he had a booger flavored one once). But some people start opening the compartment door and bugging them.
Harry thinks he's about to be sorted into "Slytherin House" when he gets to school but lucky him, he got into "Gryffindor House"-mistakenly, he thinks.
He has fun throughout the school year except when the troubles come. He thinks Professor Snape is trying to kill him.
He, Hermione (his newest friend), and Ron try to find out where Snape is heading and they head for the chamber with the Sorcerer's (Philosopher's in the UK version) Stone and Harry makes it, Hermione goes back to send an owl to Dumbledore, and Ron is stuck in wizard chess.
Harry finds out that it was Professor Quirrel who was behind all the madness and Snape was trying to help Harry be safe! Quirrel on raps his arabian hat to show that the face on the back of his head is Voldemorts! Voldemort commands Quirrel to kill Harry. Harry eventually faints and Dumbledore kills Quirrel.
Harry wakes up in the "Hospital Wing" to see Dumbledore sitting on his cot. Dumbledore explains that the Philosopher (alias Sorcerer) will die because Dumbledore had to destroy the stone. He also explains that Voldemort left Quirrel to die in the stone's chamber.
