60 Trading Cards ISSUE: Volume 1 Issue 1 Neo Genesis in 2001 INTRODUCTION Today's issue is based on the new Neo Genesis I hope you have great taste in these cards. COMMENTS & QUESTIONS Email anonymousan@thepokemasters.com to email me Comments or Questions. If you send a question, I will try my best to answer it. I think they're great cards. If Neo Genesis has this card (Donphan) then I'll be looking for it! My Sis' When I first perchased a pack, my favorite PoKéMoN (Cyndaquil) was in it. I was wondering why it looks different from the Japanese version. HINT: 300 yen and 10 cards ENGLISH: 3 bucks and 11 cards DAILY REPORT If you have any news reports about next week's card set (Gym Challenge) then send it to anonymousan@thepokemasters.com MY PAST TOURNAMENTS Thursday, January 4th 2001 to Friday January 5th 2001 Sis & Me: I draw my 7 cards as well as my sis'. Sister's Bench: Lt Surge's Voltorb Active Area: Sabrina's Drowzee My Bench: Doduo (Second edition), Pikachu (Jungle) Active area: Mareep (Neo Genesis). Then we placed six prize cards. Coin: Tossed by my sis' and got tails. Me: I draw a lightning energy. I attached a lightning energy to my Mareep - placed in active PoKéMoN area. I used my Professor Oak: Discard your hand, then draw 7 cards. I placed Porygon (Team Rocket) on the bench. I then used Static Electricity and attached another energy card down on Mareep. Static Electricity: For each Mareep in play, you may search your deck for I lightning energy card and attach it to Mareep. Shuffle your deck afterward. Sis: My Sister draws a card. She attaches grass energy to Sabrina's Drowzee. Me: I draw my card (grass energy). I then place a lightning energy to Pikachu. Next I use thundershock: Flip a Coin. If heads, the defending PoKéMoN is now paralyzed. This attack does 20 damage. I fliped heads. What coin luck was I having? Between turns: Coin flip failed and Drowzee is still paralyzed. Even more coin luck is coming up! Sis: My sister draws a card and declares, "Done". Between turns: Failed to deparalyze? You got it! Me: I draw a card and palce another lightning energy to Pikachu. Again, I used Thundershock and my opponent has 10/50 HP left. Between turns: Failed yet again! Sis: My sister draws another card. She places Machop (Rocket) on the bench. She is now done. Between turns: I have the best luck! Failed again! Me: I draw my card from the deck. I used thundershock on Drowzee and it faints! I draw my prize card which was a Magnemite. I did not place it on my bench. Sis: My sis draws another card and places Machop on the active area. She then places Zubat (rocket) on the bench. She then uses Energy Search. Me: I draw a card (water energy). I attach it to my Porygon. Next I use thundershock, fliped a coin and it came up heads! Between turns: Too bad for me, it did not fail. Sis: As usual, she draws a card. She then places lightning energy to Machop. Me: I drew a card once more. Then I placed a grass energy to Porygon. I used thundershock again and paralyzed Machop. Between turns: Machop is again deparalyzed. Sis: She draws her card, retreats Machop, discarded lightning energy, and pllaces Drowzee (rocket) into the active area. She uses Drowzee's PoKéMoN Power: Long-Distance Hypnosis, Once during your turn (before your attack), you may flip a coin. If heads, the defending PoKéMoN is now asleep. The power can't be used if Drowzee is Asleep, confused or paralyzed. Between turns: Tails. Me: I draw my next card (defender). Now my turn is over. Between turns: Heads! Yay! Sis: She attaches water energy to drowzee. Me: I draw a grass energy and attach it to Porygon. Then I use thundershock. Sis: She draws a card and uses PoKéMoN power. Between turns: No failing! Me: I draw a card (Gust of Wind) and use it. I take her drowzee back to the bench and put Machop in the active area. Gust of Wind: Choose one of your opponent's Bench PoKéMoN and switch it with his or her Active PoKéMoN. I then used thundershock on Machop. The coin came up to tails. Sis: My sister draws her card and places lightning energy to Machop. She then retreats Machop. Then she calls out Lt Surge's Voltorb and placesd a lightning energy to it. Next she uses Spin Ball: Flip a coin. This attack does 20 damage time the number of heads. That 20 damage didn't do any to me because of defender which I previously attachted to Mareep. This reduces 20 damage done to Mareep. I then discarded defender. Me: I used thundershock on Voltorb after drawing a Super Potion. The coin failed to come up heads. Sis: My sis' draws her card. She uses Spin ball and gave Mareep 20 damage. Me: For the faint I used thundershock on Voltorb after I drew a Lightning energy. I drew Sabrina's Drowzee for my second prize. Sis: My sis' drew a card and put Pikachu in Active area. She then placed Chansey on the bench. Me: I attach the third energy to Pikachu and had Mareep, used thundershock and paralyzed pikachu after drawing. Between turns: Tails! Yahoo! Sis: She drew a card and was done. Between turns: Yet again, tails! Me: I draw a card and attach the fourth lightning energy to Pikachu. Then thundershock was again used. Between turns: Tails once more. Sis: My sis' drew another card. Between turns: Tails. Me: I drew another card, evolved Pikachu to Raichu (fossil) and used thundershock. My prize card was a lightning energy. Sis: She drew her card and placed Machop in the active area. Me: I drew a card excitedly and it was a Swinub. Then I used thundershock and took a prize (Misty's Poliwag). Sis: She put out the drowzee after drawing a card. Me: I draw a bill card and used thundershock. The coin hit tails. Sis: My sis drew her card and used PoKéMoN Power. Between turns: Mareep woke up! Me: I drew a card (Cyndaquil). Mareep then used thundershock. I had just defeated drowzee (finally). The prize I drew was a Charmander. Sis: My sister brought Chansey in the Active area, but firstly drew a card. Then she used Scrunch: Flip a coin. If heads, prevent all damage done to Chanser during your opponent's next turn. (Any other effects of attacks still happen.) It came up heads. Me: After drawing a card I used thundershock jsut for the heck of it and it came up heads. Between turns: Tails! Sis: She uses Sleep! (A team rocket trainer card) which was just drawn. She then attaches an energy card to Chansey. Between turns (for sleep): Heads! Between turns (for paralyze): Tails! Me: The rest of my sister's turns were finished after drawing cards or just attaching energy cards. I had won the whole game using Thundershock and Mareep! I had these cards on my bench: Raichu, Porygon, Cyndaquil and Doduo. I had 6 prizes left, I had only 20 damage done to any of my PoKéMoN and had 17 cards in my hand! We played 2 games that night, the first one I was almost defeated when I only had 1 prize left, my Hitmonchan went out and I won. The second game was easy for me. I had no damage done to Machop and Machop was the only PoKéMoN I used! We had only two prizes to give for this game so we wouldn't spend a lot of time on it. ANIME CARD PICTURES DIFF SEGMENT Have you ever noticed the different pix between the Japanese and English Cyndaquil? I don't think WOTC had any particular reason for changing the pic - do you? CASEME Caseme has a theme song I made up for the card set. It is in the tune of "Merrily We Roll Along" which this tune was later used as "Mary Had A Little Lamb". VI Genesis of Neo Neo Neo Genesis of Neo is finally here! VII Cyndaquil is the best is the best is the best Cyndaquil is the best and Flaaffy is another! TCG News The following news are rumors that I've heard lately. Between now through March, the second neo cards series will be released in stores! PoKéMoN TCG 2 GBG is expected in Japan stores before PoKéMoN the fourth movie: Celebi A Timeless Encounter comes out in July. This video game features cards from Neo I, Neo II and Neo III series and includes the two new elements, Steel and Evil. A new gym series should be coming out soon for the 8 new gymleaders (but the first 8 won't be included). READING SOURCE This issue's Reading Source is about Gym Challenge.
