| "Usui Reiki Training in the Traditional Way" |
Traditional Usui Reiki Classes provided in Massachusetts and Vermont by Reiki Master Marybeth McKinnon Lang R.N., are empowering, spiritual and informative Reiki classes designed to promote self-healing as well as healing of others. These classes are each taught over 2 days and the attunements are given over 2 days which is the hallmark of a True Traditional Reiki class. Hawayo Takata introduced Usui Reiki to America when she taught her first Reiki class off the coast of Washington in 1973. She termed her Reiki classes including the attunement process learned from Chujiro Hayashi who was initiated by Mikao Usui as Traditional Usui Reiki. Chujiro Hayashi was one of the Reiki Masters initiated by Mikao Usui. Usui initiated only Japanese men and 3 Japanese buddist nuns to Mastership. Mikao Usui died in 1926. Chujiro Hayashi took Reiki further when in 1938 he initiated Hawayo Takata as the "first female Reiki Master" along with initiating his wife. Since the time that Hawayo Takata first introduced Traditional Usui Reiki to America in 1973, many different non-traditional schools of Reiki have arisen. These classes will be taught in one day. One day Reiki classes are not Traditional Reiki Classes they are non-traditional Reiki Classes, even if they are advertised as such they are not. I provide this information so that the public will not be confused as to what kind of Reiki training one is receiving. After Hawayo Takata passed on in 1980 there have been hundreds of books and articles written on Reiki. Some have been very helpful guides that enhance the understanding of how to heal oneself and others with Reiki, while others have sadly been the work of self-serving egos who have only created confusion and distraction from what is really important in a Reiki practice, which is "healing and oneness of being with the universe". If you use your intuition and read the Usui Principles listed on this site you will be guided to the right teacher for you. I feel that the Traditional attunement process given over 2 days for each of the first 2 levels provides the student with a wonderful initiation and a sense of knowing that they are now vibrating at a higher level. This in turn raises their consciousness and intuition to be more aware of the lessons of the universe. Your commitment to learning and practicing the first 2 Traditional Usui levels of Reiki are the only levels really necessary for you to be an effective and strong channel for Reiki. Reiki Mastership is meant for further self-development and teaching Reiki. Traditional Reiki Master training takes place over the course of a year and includes advanced practitioner as well as teacher training. Whether you train Traditionally or non-traditionally the choice is what feels comfortable and right for you. Interview the teacher before you take the class if you are in doubt of which class to take. Reiki:101What to expect from a Reiki 1 class taken with me: You will be opened to the Reiki energy over 2 days and have this energy flowing from your hands for the rest of your life; you will be taught how to do a Reiki session using structured hand placements as well as how to intuitively do Reiki; You will learn the history of Reiki and its evolvement as well as the accompanying spiritual lessons. There will be ample time to practice so that you will feel comfortable doing a session on someone else as well as to yourself since Reiki is simple to do.(I find it very interesting when people ask me about learning Reiki, that they are surprised they can channel Reiki to themselves. Actually Reiki is first and foremost for you and that is why I stress the importance of self-Reiki in my classes.) You will learn how to scan the body for weaknesses and how to correct these weaknesses with Reiki. A basic anatomy update is included as well so that you will understand to what organs you will be channeling Reiki. An introduction to the Chakras with a Chakra meditation as well as an explanation of how negative emotions can cause dis-ease in the body is given which is so important. As you can see a Traditional Reiki Class is an energy education as well as a Reiki empowerment class. You will be given information to refer to via handouts for practicing on your own. I also hold a monthly Reiki clinic in Melrose, Ma. as ongoing support for my students. My students love attending clinic since not only do they get to practice on others they do a Reiki share with one another which is so important that we receive as well as channel Reiki. Class fee $150.00 **15 CEU's for nurses and other healthcare providers awarded for this class. Reiki:102(Note: It is suggested that students wait at least 3 months after their Reiki 1 class before taking Reiki 2 to allow the body to become adjusted to this newly empowered vibration and to experience the difference between the 1st and 2nd levels. This is only a suggestion since there may be students who already have energy backgrounds and are ready much sooner to advance to the second level. Use your intuition as to the right timing for you.) What to expect from a Reiki 2 Certification Class taken with me: Hawayo Takata would say "Reiki 1 (20) horsepower and Reiki 2 (100) horsepower". Reiki 1 is very powerful and Reiki 2 multiplies that power to the degree that the practioner is able to get results sooner, be able to treat mental/emotional issues and also be able to do a Reiki treatment to someone in another room or another country. It is so amazing. You will receive 2 attunements, one each day, and be taught 3 sacred symbols, one will increase the Reiki energy you are able to channel, another assists you in treating mental/emotional issues and the third enables you to do a distance Reiki treatment. On the morning of the first day I will go over Reiki 1 techniques and then teach you Reiki 2 techniques and how to incorporate them into your session. There will be much practice time for you to feel comfortable with your newly acquired empowerments. The second day we will focus on distance treatments as well as using Reiki 2 energy to manifest goals. We will be sending Reiki to someone of your choice. You will be taught a special technique taught to me by John Harvey Gray which greatly enhances your Reiki sessions.
