Little Goku:Taught Kung-Fu by his late Grandfather who raised him out in the wilderness, Goku is very strong, very agile and virtually fearless. He'll take on any fight no matter what the odds are if he thinks that someone has been wronged. And he'll usually win. That's because Goku is not a typical eight year old. He is able to fly short distances and carries a magic fighting stick that stretches to incredible lengths.But Goku is more that just a good kid with cool hair and a great karate kick. He's a little naive which can really annoy Bulma at times!
Goku:Goku has many powerful fighting techniques including the powerful Kamehameha wave and the KAIO-KEN which he learns from King Kai. His last and most powerful weapon is an immensely powerful energy ball which garners pieces of energy from all sources on the planet, concentrates it on one sphere and then releases it in one mighty swoop. This ball can be used only once and must be guided carefully for it can destroy the planet if used inappropriately.
Gohan:Gohan, Goku and Chi-Chi's four-year-old son, was named after his adoptive grandfather. Physically, he resembles a young Goku right down to the tail and the likelihood to become an uncontrollable raging Giant Monkey when he looks at a full moon, while spiritually, he is good and pure of heart as well.
Bulma:Bulma is one of the most independent and determined teenagers around. She'll do whatever it takes to get what she wants and she won't let anything stand in her way -- not mountains, not monsters, no even pride.
She's a mixed up teenager with blue hair, a pink outfit, and a personality quirk that won't allow her to shut up. She's emotional, self-centered, impatient, argumentative, boy-crazy and given to fits of hysterics. Pretty much your typical teenager.
Krillin:As a young boy, Krillin studied martial arts with Goku under Master Roshi. Originally he and Goku were fierce rivals, but now they've become the best of friends. Krillin soon realized that Goku was special and that the Power of Light was very strong within him, and he now holds Goku in high respect. But don't get the idea that he's a helpless buffoon. A good fighter in his own accord, he's always there to help Goku. He can and has saved his friend's life more than once. In fact, Krillin unleashes an incredible energy blast shaped like a flying disk that literally slices through mountaintops. Krillin is incredibly dedicated to his friends, especially Goku, and holds friendship in high value.
Yamcha:Yamcha is a powerful and feared, dark-haired warrior-thief who can call upon the fearsome power of the Wolf-Fang Fist, a karate move he uses to help him vanquish his enemies. He is linked spiritually with wolves and the Wolf-Fang Fist is a potent weapon that he only uses when necessary. Initially Yamcha seems more like a bully than a hero, but he comes around as he meets the others and becomes infatuated with Bulma. Although normally incredibly cool, confident and under control, he is preposterously shy, often to the point of debilitation, around women. When he gets older, he is anxious and willing to be trained by Kami and to join the upcoming battle against the Saiyans even though he understands that the odds will be against them.
Yajirobe:Yajirobe is one good guy that is the least interested in fighting. He is perfectly content in being on the sidelines without entering the battle. He doesn't willingly go near danger and isn't willing to go in the Pendulum Room to train.
Chiaotzu:This white-skinned, red-cheeked little prince is a devoted companion of Tien. Noble and unselfish, Chiaotzu does not hesitate to throw himself onto Nappa's back and self-destruct in an attempt to save his comrades.
Tien:Tien is a serious, three-eyed man intent on training to be strong. Formerly he beat Goku at a world-wide martial arts tournament. He can stop a waterfall with a blast and crush rocks with his head. His fighting techniques include the ability to hover in the air, throw concentration bombs, and split into two or four separate entities.
Piccolo:Goku's one time arch enemy, Piccolo, is the second strongest being on the Earth. He wears an extremely heavy cape as constant training for his muscles. He is renowned for his powerful energy blasts as well as his ability to split into two or four separate entities. Green like a lizard, Piccolo has the ability to regenerate any limbs that he may lose in battle. A capability that comes in handy more than once.
Dende:Dende was the only survivor from his village on Planet Namek. Krillin and Gohan rescued Dende. He doesn't have very strong fighting abilities like other Namekian warriors. Dende does poses the power to heal-a trait that's important in the battle with Frieza.Dende is trustworthy and loyal to Guru. Later in the series, Dende becomes the guardian of the earth.
Trunks:He is the son of Bulma, a tech guru, and Vegeta, one of the most powerful fighters. We know he's somewhere from the future. At one time he saw a threat to the Earth and has now come back in time to save the Earth.
Vegeta:He is the son of King Vegeta. Vegeta is known as a super powerful Saiyan. Along with Nappa they are the two last surviving Saiyans. Nappa and Vegeta travel to Earth to destroy all life and sell the planet. He's a fierce competitor of Goku's that's always trying to reach higher power levels than Goku. Very focus, he dreams of the Dragon Balls gaining immortality. He is determined to ruin Frieza. After the Namek Saga he changes sides and fights for the good guys.
Guru:Guru is peace-loving, wise and the eldest of all Namekians. Guru created the Dragon Balls. Once Guru dies, the power of the Dragon Balls will also die. Since Guru is quite sick and elderly, this is a great concern to the planet Namek.
Dr.Brief:Dr. Brief's friendly, smart and easy to get along with. Dr. Brief is the president of the Capsule Corporation and also Bulma's dad. He's a technical genius, and this helps explain Bulma's knack with machines. Dr. Brief is responsible for fixing the spaceships that send Goku and other to Namek.
Badies:
Frieza:The mention of the name Frieza, causes dread across the universe. Frieza is feared by all as the most evil being in the universe, with no competitor being even close to his strength. He's obsessed with power and doesn't show an ounce of compassion. Frieza is desperate to collect the Dragon Balls, call upon the Dragon and gain his wish for immortality. Once he accomplishes immorality he can rule the entire universe, unrivaled, forever.
Raditz:A strong, powerful Saiyan warrior, Raditz comes to Earth originally to look for Goku, his brother. Angry and intolerant, Raditz can't understand why it has taken so long for his little brother to destroy the helpless humans.
Nappa:Fellow warrior and Saiyan with Vegeta, Nappa comes to Earth with Vegeta to destroy it. This muscular Saiyan does much of the early fighting on Earth including eliminating directly or indirectly through the Saibaimen. He planted seeds which turn into the six Saibaimen and battled the allies.
The Saibamen:Saibamen Saibaimen are beings grown from seeds for the sole purpose of fighting. Introduced on Earth by the Saiyans, they take orders from Nappa and Vegeta and battle the good guys. With fighting power of 1200 each, these six Saibaimen are worthy opponents but are defeated.
King Cold:King Cold is an enormous, evil monster. He's Frieza's dad and resembles him in several ways. His desire to destroy the world along with his physical similarities make the resemblance to Frieza clear. King Cold is responsible for "resurrecting" Frieza after the destruction of Namek. Now sporting an android-like shape, Frieza and King Cold are heading to Earth.
Androids:Dr. Gero is responsible for the creation of Androids 16-19. They are his most destructive creations and are out to destroy our good guys on the Earth. These androids are powerful and live to destroy. Android 16 is an experimental model. Since he's extremely strong, he enjoys destroying absolutely everything in view. After being defeated by Bulma and Cell, his pieces are collected, reassembled and programmed to fight for the good guys. Androids 17-18 are teenagers and are considered the future threat to the Earth. They force Trunks to come back to this time on Earth from the future to stop them. Android 19 is dedicated to getting rid of the good guys and uses all the weapons he can find. Androids 19 and 20 are the first to come to Earth in the Cell.
Ginyu Force:The Ginyu Force is considered the most evil, powerful team in the universe. The Ginyu Force has five members and each one has unique attack skills. Although they're a powerful team, each member is conceited which often leads to their failings. In between battles they spend their time playing "paper, rock, scissors" and watching soap operas. The Ginyu Force seems uncaring of their teammates and willing to watch their demise.
Barter is one of the fastest creatures.
Captain Ginyu is the strongest of the team and the leader. Ginyu is able to switch bodies with his opponents.
Recoome is a large brute who is extremely powerful but clumsy and slow.
Guldo is capable of manipulating time and space. With his ability to read minds, control objects and stop time he can easily conquer much strong opponents.
Garlic Jr.:Garlic Jr. is both evil and smart. He has grand plans to take over the universe. He is able to transform into a monstrous ruler. His wish is to ruin Kami, the Namekian guardian of Earth. Then he could rule the Earth. The Eternal Dragon Shenron gave Garlic Jr. immortality after he successfully collected all seven of the Earth's Dragon Balls. Since then he's been locked in a black void. Garlic Jr. is originally from the Makyo Star and his power fluctuates with the star's distance. When the Makyo Star is close to Garlic Jr. his power increases, pushing him out of the void.
Cell:Cell was created in Dr. Gero's lab as a genetic experiment. He is Dr. Gero's most dangerous creation since he contains the DNA of the some of the strongest fighters, including Vegeta, Goku and Piccolo. He was created with a scorpion-like tail that opens up to sponge the energy of his competitors, a self-destruct feature, and instructions for revenge on the Androids.
Dodoria & Zarbon:Dodoria and Zarbon are Frieza's henchmen. Dodoria is a spiky-headed alien. Zarbon is an attractive green-haired fighter that eventually transforms into a reptile-like creature to try to conquer Vegeta.
Dr. Gero:Dr. Gero is an evil science genius. His clever inventions include the Androids and Cell. Needless to say these inventions have put the Earth at great risk numerous times. Dr. Gero is actually Android 20! How did he become Android 20? He told Android 19 to turn him into an Android. Android 20 is known as the one who won't give up.
Mai:Mai is the Emperor's right hand woman, and the only one he really trusts to carry out his bidding. She's a beautiful, calculating and formidable opponent. It's only a matter of time, however, before Mai is able grasp the seat of power which currently belongs, unfairly, to the Emperor.
Shao:Shao is a bumbling, furry ball of comic relief. Shao hasn't carried out a successful mission yet, and Pilaf must keep him around so that he's not surrounded by anyone too competent to overthrow him.Shao is a warrior and thief by trade, and he's boastful when on top, and a chicken when at risk!
The Spice Boys:The Spice Boys are four evil warriors who respond to the commands of Garlic Jr. Spice is the leader and quite handsome. Salt is short and stubby. Mustard and Vinegar are both muscle men.
The Normal:
Baba:Baba is the comical sister of Master Roshi. Short and squat, she uses her crystal ball to see into the future or to see what is happening in the present in other locations. When the television coverage of the Saiyan fight is interrupted, Master Roshi, Bulma, Chi Chi, Ox-King, and Oolong gather around her crystal ball to see how their friends and loved ones are faring.
Master Roshi:An ancient and wise master of martial arts, Roshi has accumulated great power and knowledge. He is very old, completely bald, and has a long white beard. Because he lived for countless years on a deserted island with only a turtle for championship, he is also called the "Hermit Turtle". Then again, he's also called quirky, a kook, and a smelly old codger. Although he may appear strange, frail and harmless, Master Roshi is indeed a great warrior. He is master of the "Kamehameha" -- a power which he channels through his hands, creating a wave of tremendous power that can destroy mountains. Master Roshi's one failing is that he's attracted to women.
Chi-Chi:Chi-Chi is a cute little princess who Goku saves when they are both young. She is the only one with a heart pure enough to ride on the Nimbus Cloud with Goku. But being young and cute doesn't mean Chi-Chi isn't a brave and amazing fighter.
Ox-King:Ox-king is a huge, muscular hulk. He's larger than Goku and all his friends put together. And his strength matches his incredible size.
King Kai:He's known through the entire universe as a great fighter and martial arts teacher. He lives on a small planet (in the Next Dimension) that has ten times the gravity of Earth-making it a wonderful training place. King Kai has a korny sense of humour and great wisdom. He has a great gift since he's able to communicate telepathically, which allows him to give his friends warnings in serious situations.
Yemma:He's the fastest and most powerful ogre in the other world. He was the first to make it down Snake Way. The Great King Yemma sits at the desk of the Next Dimension and lets people into the Upper and Lower Worlds.
Kami:Kami is from the planet Namek although he embodies good while Piccolo became evil. They are inexplicably linked. Unfortunately, if and when Kami passes on, the Earth's Dragon Balls also cease to function at this time. Kami is the originator of the Earth's Dragon Balls. He has some capability of seeing into the future and thus knows a year in advance that he will die.
Korin:Korin is a martial arts expert and lives in Korin's Tower. Korin is responsible for growing the magical beans that help the Z warriors when they're in battle.
Oolong:Oolong is a sarcastic, abrasive, cowardly, self-centred creep, but in a likable and endearing way. He's a short pig-creature who has a disdain for everyone but beautiful women. He has only one key shortcoming: When given the slightest opportunity, he'll lie, steal or cheat if it helps his best interests. Other than that, he's a great guy.
Porunga:The Dragon, Porunga can be called upon after collecting all seven of the Namekian Dragon Balls. What's the difference between the Namekian Dragon, Porunga and the Earth Dragon, Shenron? Porunga is harsher looking than Shenron. Also, Porunga has the power to grant three wishes instead of one-but only as long as the wishes don't exceed the power of the creator and as long as the creator is alive.
Princess Snake:She has been the princess of Snake Way for the last 1500 years! It's been over 500 years since she's had guests and she is excited about the arrival of Goku. She tries to force him to stay on Snake Way.
Puar:Puar is a shape-shifting blue cat. Puar is able to shift shapes without resting every couple of minutes. Puar is the devoted friend of Yamcha.
Shenron:Similar to the Namekian Dragon Porunga, Shenron, the Earth's Dragon can be called by collecting all seven of the Dragon Balls. However, Shenron can only grant one wish per calling. Shenron can grant any wish as long as the creator lives. |
