Miller County, Arkansas
On a clear night with no moon Michael Rayburn was out watching deer in a hay meadow
when he noticed a light shining on some pecan trees. In going closer I asked Jack,
my friend, to shine our light on the area and when he did, I saw a little guy,
about 3 - 3 1/2 feet tall, standing at the edge of the grass, within a fraction of
a second I fired one round from my 8mm Remington Magnum rifle, at a light colored
spot, which should have been directly in the center of his chest. Jack spoke telling
me I got him. I saw him flip over backwards, into the grass. I had chambered another
round, then I told Jack to hold the light on the same spot while I walked to the outside
of the light, heading for where the little guy fell in the edge of the grass. Just
before I reached him, I heard another one running from the big pecan tree toward me.
I yelled to Jack to get the light on him but he never got it in the right spot. The
little guy ran into the grass where the one fell and I heard a lot of thrashing around
and they went on out through the grass.
Jack ran over to where I was and we went into the grass, but were stopped by the awful
smell. I said to Jack, "Let's get out of here." Jack was excited and fearful, to the
point of panic. We headed back across the hay meadow. Jack was looking all around,
over his shoulder. He said, "What is that?" I turned to look and said it was just
a bright star but I noticed it was headed straight toward us. We stopped walking,
the light suddenly became so bright we couldn't look straight at it. It stopped
just short of being directly over us. Jack said, "Let's run, take cover." I said,
"We can't take cover, they already know where we are and I want to see them face to face."
Jack was bouncing up and down from fear. I put my hand on his shoulder and he became
calm. The light just stayed there, not quite directly over us, I'd say for about 5 minutes.
Then it went backwards a little way. Then it dimmed way down and went across the hay
meadow around between the big trees and eventually disappearing over the woods about
l/4 mile away. We went home and then I got scared and couldn't sleep that night.
When we returned the next morning, I could smell the stench, by putting my nose to
the ground. It wasn't all gone. Where the little guy fell, there was white powder on
the grass and ground. I followed their path through the tall grass and there were at
least 7 of them in the group. Their trails led about 100 years through the tall grass
to a place where 5 round spots were pressed into the grass. In these spots, all the
grass was pressed down. The spots were about 6 foot across, but they didn't have any
pattern that I could recognize.
