WE HAVE A FEW RESOURCES TO WORK WITH
Members of ALIAS get together once a week to talk over upcoming editions, read material, open snail mail, read e-mail, answer letters, drink coffee, discuss whatever topic comes to sometimes-several-minds-at-once. Just about then we decide to get cirius and down-to-business like.
Someone brings up an idea, like "why don't we do another movie?" and the funs starts. Because someone else will then say, "Yes, fine, but why not, while we're at it, talk about the next small press fair and who's going and why and how many tables will we have and then..."
Why, then, someone else will ask where the computer is (a laptop we have available to us every week at this special time) - and somebody else will say, "Well, I'd like some colour prints of a card I've been working on done today - is it possible?) - and we'll try to accommodate that person's request.
Suddenly, and out of noplace in particular, another member might arrive and ask for and have made available ALIAS' own portable photocopier, because some sort of psychic connection has maybe been made and the small press fair IS coming up, you see, and they'd like to make some copies of their 30 - 40 page book - for to take to the fair where ALIAS fronts the table(s) cost and everyone interested gets to go and see what others are doing, to sell or trade their own material and have a good time that day.
ALIAS inspires. That's basically our mandate. To inspire and to inspire. Oh yes, and to drink plenty of coffee (supplied by Fred Victor Centre's own low-cost restaurant; thanks, Sunny, Rosita, Elaine, Nick, Smiley and everyone else associated). Hey, we're connected!
Or, we might have an ART DAy, and do collages or painting.

We might discuss the MILTON ACORN LIVING LIBRARY and how we're going to loan books out to people without using library cards, and get them back, too - which we do, which we do.
So you get the picture. And all this in just a few coupla hours. Yeah. It's fun, it's creative, it's... it's anonymous (it's "alias")!!
A busy program, complete with lots of informative discussions, ideas, and other such stuff. But we wouldn't want to bore you with more writing on THIS page, so... go on to the next one...

- To A Child -
In night-times drear = In shadows, in fear = When all friends fail = Come end of tale
When thoughts are mixed = And time's not fixed = With neither aid = From man nor maid
When wind in tree = Will only moan = Turning happy thoughts = To those of gloom
I say = Be not afraid = For day = brings all else into play
= Dear child = Have trust = 'Tis but dust = Returns to dust
And I have heard = An angel sings = Of love = of joy = And peaceful things... |
