On October 21 to October 29, 2000, DR. EVANGELINA HILARIO-
LACSON, the venerable 84-year old president emeritus of
the AKADEMYANG KAPAMPANGAN based in Angeles City, visited
the AGUMAN CAPAMPANGAN NORTHWEST U.S.A. in Portland,
Oregon, after hearing about the club's interest in Kapampangan
culture. Early on, she had got hold of the Classic Kapampangan
Dictionary written by their president, ERNIE TURLA.
During his week-long stay in the city, she conducted a successful
seminar / workshop in Kapampangan culture, which included
language, literature and history. The seminar was capped by the
graduation of all those that attended it, and the formation of the
AKADEMYANG KAPAMPANGAN USA
(later, renamed AKADEMYANG KAPAMPANGAN
INTERNATIONAL). Enlisted as its initial members were the personnel
of the AGUMAN, and eventually, Kapampangans living in other states
were invited to join. The AKADEMYANG KAPAMPANGAN U.S.A.
became the pilot club
in the U.S. and was made a partner of the Akademyang Kapampangan (AKKAP)
in Pampanga. Its main goal has been to promote Kapampangan culture,
especially the language, literature and history.

Note: This group is now defunct, and only the original local
Akademya in Angeles City in the Philippines still exists.
Another group, an entirely different one, was organized soon
after AKUSA (AKI)was disbanded. It is called Academia Ning
Amanung Sisuan International (ANASI) and this is one of its websites.
