School: Farragut Academy Stats: 98-99, 21 pts, 10 rebs, 4 assists Kevin Garnett has grown from being that high school "kid" to a perennial all-star. He was drafted fifth overall in the first round. When drafted he became the first player in more than 20 years to be drafted by an NBA team directly out of high school. He was named National High School Player of the Year by USA Today as a senior after averaging 25.2 points, 17.9 rebounds, 6.7 assists and 6.5 blocks at Farragut Academy in Chicago. At one point he was named to the 1998-99 All-NBA Third Team after leading the Timberwolves in scoring (20.8 ppg, 11th in the NBA), rebounds (10.4 rpg, 9th), blocked shots (1.77 bpg, 13th) and double-doubles (25, 9th). |
