My name is Louana Dimler,I am a 31 year old wife
& a mother of two vibrant,young boys.This may sound
typical and for the most part, normal, however for me
it is nothing short of a MIRACLE!I truly am alive &
well today,
AGAINST ALL ODDS...
Fifteen years ago,at the age of 16,I was in an accident
that nearly ended my life. Before I go on,let me say that
I DO believe the only reason that I am alive is because
I had praying family members & we DO have a merciful
God!
Back at the scene of the accident.......
I was a passenger on the back of a motorcycle & as we
were going through an intersection we were side swiped
by a car attempting to turn on a red light. The impact
of the hit sent me sailing through the air, with my leg
remaining behind, caught between the car & the bike
(the least of my worries).
When I landed,my head apparently hit a cement curb
retainer giving me a severe head concussion. My parents
as well as other family members remained at my bedside
day after day,as I remained in a coma,for 2 months
straight.
I want you to know that while the doctors were saying to
my family that,"Your time would be better spent at home
preparing yourself to be able to adequately care for a
mentally incapable individual",my family absolutely
refused to accept this diagnosis. They prayed & they
prayed and then they prayed some more.
Now,you can believe what you chose, but what I have to
tell you next is nothing short of a miracle,to me.On
Dec/12 after being in a coma for two months I became
conscious.I knew where I was & that I had had my lower
left leg amputated, but I didn't know that I had been in
a coma for two months.Imagine waking up tomorrow & it
being two months down the road! For the better part of
that first day,I felt like I was dreaming & that this
wasn't really happening.
Besides the fact that I am alive, the biggest miracle
to me,is that while I was in the coma,my mind had
adjusted to the fact that my leg had been amputated.
From the moment I became conscious,I knew that my leg
had been amputated & I was OKAY with it!I had previously
been a cross country runner & had won several trophies
& ribbons & I know that if you would have asked me,before
the accident, how I would cope as an amputee,I probably
would have said NOT well!!
Well,I will tell you that I cope just fine.I am
repeatedly told that,"you cannot tell that I have
a prosthesis".I am a Certified Dental Assistant &
I am happily married & the Mother of two boys.
Please know that things can happen when you least
expect it,so try to always resolve issues with your
family members,in a timely fashion.Peace makers,&
you know who you are,do not ignore the prompting to
"make things right" with a loved one.
Thank you for taking the time to read through my site,
I pray that you have been encouraged.
God Bless You,
Louana Dimler
