The most valuable and essential tool to the witch is a Book of Shadows (BoS). This is a collection of all your learnings, memories, rituals, etc. in one place. Most modern Wiccans use a three-ring binder to make it easy to arrange documents and add in other papers. (My BoS is a black, leather book.) This can, of course, be hand-written or printed from a computer. (All my information is printed from the computer and glued in my book). Don't limit yourself- You can put whatever you want in your book. Most witches use theirs somewhat like a journal, recording all their thoughts and insights. Also along with your spells and rituals you may choose to write how they worked for you. You can also decorate your BoS. Not only the outside cover but also all the pages inside. You can use printed graphics, drawings, string, bits of wax--anything. My BoS has real herbs glued on some of the spell pages (honeysuckle and lavendar on a spell that calls for honeysuckle and lavendar, rosemary on a spell that calls for rosemary...you get the point). I even have dimes glued on a money spell that calls for dropping silver coins into the cauldron. You can do anything you wish. My sister has burned the letters BOS on the front cover of her book with a woodburner. Creativity will make your BoS more special. The following is a listing of some things I have in my BoS.
