| Isn't it true that acne is caused by the bacteria in the skin?? According to Dr. James E. Fulton, M.D., PhD., author of Dr. Fulton's Step-by-Step Program for Clearing Acne,"The bacteria (believed to be causing acne) in the skin Corynebaterium acnes sometimes called c.acnes for short, exists in the pores of every human being, and do not dwell in greater numbers in acne-prone people." So the answer appears to be "no". -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- How long has the AboutFace Program been around? It started on the net in 1996. Previous to that it was strictly a mail-order program. As you can see, it isn't exactly new but many acne sufferers aren't aware of it. It was one of the first self-help acne programs on the net. I've had several students branch-off and develop their own sites as a result of the success of the program. You've probably have seen other sites with similar wording to the AboutFace site. New material is now being added weekly to the site so be sure to bookmark it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- How long does it take before I see results? The time factor differs with each individual. I have had people shriek with excitement after only three days on the program. I've also had people e-mail me with positive results after one or two weeks on the program. Some it took longer -- three to four weeks. On the other hand, some people sent the program BACK to me in TWO WEEKS requesting their refund! You see, this program isn't for EVERYONE. But generally speaking, anywhere from three days to four weeks is a good rule of thumb to see positive results. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Will the acne get worse before it gets better? Since the AF Program works differently for each person, some people may experience some minor breakouts while others will not. It all depends on how you apply the program. The AboutFace Program is set up in a cafeteria-type display. That is, you can select which segment of the program you want to try. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It seems that most of the people using your program are over 21. Is it not for teens? Although the majority of the people who use the program are 21 and older, there are plenty of teens on board as well. I believe the reason the AboutFace participants are older is probably due to the habitual patterns of most acne sufferers: First, one will try over-the-counter acne creams, acne lotions, acne ointments, etc. This will go on for maybe a year or so. If that doesn't work, then maybe they'll try either some weird homeopathic measure...maybe some dietary changes...some miracle herbs perhaps...More time passes and if the acne doesn't burn out as it sometimes can -- and does for those certain lucky souls -- then maybe it's time to see a dermatologist. At this point you may be given some antibiotics. Tetracycline, minocycline, etc., etc., ... Some more time will pass and if that doesn't work -- another trip to the dermatologist's office. Now comes the time for the big "A"...accutane, the so-called "silver bullet" for acne. From this point, anything can happen; Some get excellent results, some get minimal results, and lots of people get all kinds of weird side-effects from taking the drug. (You might want to try looking up accutane on the newsgroup site deja.com to see what others have to say about it. Type "accutane" once you're there.) In any event, by the time the typical acne sufferer gets to this point in his or her life, some years have passed, and one may be out of their teen years by then, and into their 20's -- even 30's. Sooooooo....by the time they get to me, they have tried various acne creams, acne lotions, acne ointments, acne this or that, vitamins for acne, minerals, every acne miracle cure you can imagine, along with the usual antibiotics for acne, etc., etc., etc.. I'm usually chosen as a LAST RESORT after having exhausted every other way to eliminate acne. One note: At one time I limited my program to people over the age of eighteen years of age. Why? Because I had young participants e-mail me about parental intrusion of the program. You see, because the AF program involves some unique dietary changes, some parents may object. (Which I can understand completely.) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I've already tried some dietary and nutritional changes into my diet and have not noticed any changes to my acne. How is your program different from other nutritional information being offered? Well, there's one thing that a lot of people with any disease tend to overlook when implementing a nutritional program for themselves: Your bodys OWN healing system does the work. NOT popping vitamins. NOT drinking health-shakes. NOT turning to vegetarian diets. But NATURE so to speak -- your 'healing system' -- is the key component in action here. Dr. Andrew Weil (see "Hot Links")is a well-known proponent of this way of thinking. You see, most people think that by adding a certain health-food , vegetable, or fruit or vitamin/mineral supplement to their diet, they'll ward off a malady they're experiencing. Well, it might help, but in order to get the best results, you need to get your healing system fine-tuned so to speak so that you can be in the best position to help alleviate -- in our case, acne. I go into detail about this subject in the AboutFace program and refer to it often throughout the book. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I understand in one part of the manual, you mention "insulin" or "sugar balance" as a key proponent in controlling acne out breaks. What's that all about? As more and more people send me positive feedback about the program, I'm now finding that the insulin/sugar balance/acne connection is much more important than I had previously thought. First of all, the AboutFace Program is really two programs wrapped in one. Participants choose the one that works best for them. Some people may not react positively with one of the programs, however, when they employ the other program which focuses on the insulin/sugar balance, they usually notice a vast improvement. As far as I know, I believe The AboutFace Program is the only acne program that focuses in on this area. I have not come across this topic/solution anywhere else....YET. But I'm sure in the future more and more people will be taking a closer look at this vital area because there is definetly a connection. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- How does the guarantee work? No hassles, no questions. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- C'mon, aren't you're just trying to make money off of people's suffering ? Kind of like saying McDonalds or Burger King is just taking advantage of people who are hungry. I've gotten this kind of question thrown at me more than I'd like to admit. So to be fair, I'll address it. First, if you've read my Introduction, you know I'm an ex-acne sufferer myself. Big deal, right? Well, my acne consumed me when I had it and later, the subject of acne consumed me after I got rid of it. And to this day, some twenty years later, it still consumes me. Only now I try my best to show people HOW to eliminate it using the non-drug approach that I myself used some years ago. Now it does take some time and money to keep this site going. Printing the book costs money as well as keeping the site up. If I did all of this myself, I wouldn't be able to have time to sleep. So, I pay for people and services to keep track of the orders, shipping, publishing, etc. However, I continue to answer all the questions I get asked by email. This all started as a labor of love and it continues today with that thought in mind.
