| About myself and where I started and what I am about |
Well about me, well it can be hard or simple, all depends on how you look at it, First off my name is randy, and I am a member of the ASC/COAL forum, as well the COAL forum and the new FRA forum, as well I just recently got back into airsoft, and getting my kids into it, paintballin is fun but can get very very expensive, especially if you are like me and carried a tippman A-5, so basically the money for ammo could kill me alone, and really not in the mood to fight with the wife to have fun, but anyways started to look at airsofting again, its been awhile, but I seen its very well here in colorado and to the neighboring states.
I am a ex marine that was stationed at Camp Pendleton, attached to multiple units in several years, been to over 39 countries and 49 states, it was fun and sometimes hard, especially on my family, but that time has elapsed and I have moved on to bigger and better things, and actually have time to relax and enjoy life, all until the kids wake up. |
| Primary Status of Airsoft |
Compared to almost 12 to 15 years ago, the sport of airsoft has grown, but unlike some other new age sports, it hasnt really taken off at a fast rate like most people would like, so pretty much we have to earn every player we can get, and teams as well. So at times, its hard to even think of a league status until we can build the numbers needed to form some kind of minor sized league.
Maybe in near future we can build this huge idea of a national league or even state wide team and league play, but for present time we have to continue to build one step at a time, might be hard, and some people may bump heads, but we all have to be rational to one another and make some sacrifices to build this idea we have and want. Not everybody may see eye to eye, but its life and we as educated and ethical adults can sit down to find a happy medium, meaning you may not get all yours wants, and the other guy may not get all his wants as well, but both can find a medium ground in which to work and compromise for the better of one another and to promote the sport of airsoft among all airsofters, regardless of views on opinion of rules and regs, like myself, I listen to the rules and abide by the rules, whoever makes the rules.
The point is to get in the game and play, nothing more or less, I mean there are issues one group has one set of rules to enforce maximum safety, and another may enforce the MEDS and FPS, and they may not agree on these issues, but they can sit down and talk it out with one another and make all parties in some kind of agreement. |
| Some problems with airsoft recruitment and game attendance |
Some issues among the recruitment of players is promotional scale and views to general public, that seems to be a good issue is some kids abuse the simple fact of general public do not respond well to the sight of automatic weapons period, regardless of toy, airsoft or real, its that plain and simple, up to date, this year alone there have been over 393 counts of airsoft guns alone to scare people in the hands of those that have no respect for the sport or the game, just seemed like a cool thing to do is scare somebody with it, which starts off with people invoking a bad reputation among airsofters.
Then another fact is convience to schedule for all players. this is one of the factors that kills alot of people, time schedule made available, some players have to work sundays, then some work saturdays, some work all weekend long, and some dont work at all, there may be a factor in which all players can be accomadated. generally there has been this historical fact of games set up like the days of old on sundays, which many can attend, and everybody is concerned with attendance, and that itself is a concern, I have been working with the idea of making a new system that accomadates almost every player for everyday that can be made available to all.
And finally there is the amount of players everybody is so worried about, yes some groups have good numbers, some dont have hardly any, we as airsoft sporting groups, teams, Independants, and organizations can work together to make strides forward to bring in many many more players to the game itself as a whole. One issue is simple, some prices of airsoft guns are through the roof, so at present time I have been working with TM to break this barrier, cause stateside dealers are killing the sport by over charges and high price rates, so lets look at this term, local at very expensive, or overseas with cheap price but high shipping, so I found a way to get the overseas guns at the extreme low rates, plus ther high shipping and still come shorter price range of any dealer stateside, and we have worked out a way to drop the tarriff tax to around 10 total per gun, with this in mind and a stock of airsoft guns over 700 types on hand straight from TM at extreme ranges cheaper then local, and shipping rated around 7 - 10 tops, that is one step to help bring in more players if they can afford the very equipment needed |
| Airsoft and the common player |
There are few players that have the entire arsenal, as well as we may wish and hope and dream, its just not reality, and the more common guns run a fortune, just to asssmebly and arm a standrad team by stateside price rates would run somewhere around 1500 dollars to arm a task force team of 5 members, and that can be declared greedy as to where I have the ability to arm the same task force for around 900 dollars, thats the great price hike I myself am refering to, the hike up prices for on demand or most wanted items, which leaves those that want the best out the door wanting or trying or struggling to save that allowance or save some of that paycheck little at a time until the time is right to buy it, and to the point, leaving you in some doubt saying you liked the gun itself but hell the price is through the roof and might leave you tight for a bit, or even thinking of the things you could have done with some of that money.
And myself , I did that from time to time, and finally I found a solution that benefits each individual players ot soon to be players and even the veteran players, this came from the event I call the wells incident, my son wanted an airsoft rifle, and it stated Tm and electric, so he got it, and when it did come in, it wasnt TM, and was electric and was wells electric rip off of TM, and to my surprise I was overcharged and raised all sorts of hell, So I had to take the hit and smile, but not for long, thats when i decided to take action and localize myself as a rep for TM and start importing the guns for cheap at an almost noticeable drop in prices for all players alike young and old, new or old, does not matter, all deserve the same, the great gun with a great price |
