The term Libertarian meant a person who was free by owning inalienable land. In the last century it was partially appropriated by the Left in Latin countries to mean people who owned nothing. Libertarians have maintained that they are transcending this outmoded Left-Right stuff. They are concerned about maintaining a clear name and identity.

Portuguese and Italian Libertarians are fighting back not to let the term Libertarian be corrupted as Liberal was. Some French and Canadian Libertarians think liberal is clearer in their language, or are using Libertarienne instead of Libertaire. Some have used the term New Libertarianism.

Share your perspective with our fellow French-Speaking Liber...?

LIBERQUOI? LIBERTAIRE OU LIBERTARIENNE?
SHOULD FRENCH SPEAKING LIBERTARIANS TAKE BACK LIBERTAIRE OR USE LIBERTARIENNE?

TAKE LIBERTAIRE BACK FROM FRENCH LEFT. PROPERTY IS THEFT,NON?
USE LIBERTARIENNE... LIBERTAIRE IS ALL THE LEFT HAVE LEFT, LES PAUVRES...
I VOLUNTEER TO HELP TRANSLATE THIS SITE'S MAJOR FEATURES TO FRENCH
USE BOTH AND RECOGNIZE THEM AS A FORMER STAGE
LIO HOLD THE LINE AT LIBERTAIRE, BUT LOCAL GROUPS NAME AS THEY PLEASE
