Until now without any community assistance on this project of our "Twenty Zeros" and personally also without any prior awareness of and prior to "pre-annoucement online" dated July 25, 2000 - of the decade titled "Twenty Zeros" at my website then about the question of "what to name the decade", facing scholars now awkwardly booking the new decade ahead by name and polled online these previous 17 months by national media. I was in gear titling "this website" the Twenty Zeros for a number of companion sites for the Zeros which are described some at the beginning of this page. The title will come clearer with use experts say. Selecting a good name or title is research edit and production assigned priority and directed as my networks top story until Twenty Zeros is accepted for and by officials, as nearly final in a least repect, as the forum is which brings us to it and the effort and time involved. Only a month or so ago when this realization came to me about my title I thought with "Twenty Zeros" and because none other name was in use that I would instantly become a media star. My account from the beginning can be viewed at Twenty Zeros and other online forums. I would like to say on this platform that "there are 3 areas for us to resolve for the millennium viewers". First the notion of easy numbers like zero, one or two, is posing a problem and stressing us out somewhat naturally so because counting begins with one which includes the "numeral symbol of zero" (only two items so far) and because we together bog on the lack of a name with an alpha-numeric vernacular, for such increments here (such as a decades name) we somehow don't take importantly the intellectual need we have to implement, thinking someone across town will come up with the riddle answer. Counting where or in as such when counting is, as such a tabulating (of amounts) of time as per say, from one date to another or the next or the nearest date from ordinal code, is just remotely connected to the matter here then, as "Counting and Names are clearly unrelated" together rationally speaking. Third and for possibly a new beginning to solving the riddle presently bogging us, take the words widely included by scholars and pollsters and put the two together for a simple name and term like "Twenty Zeros". But for those who must associate numbers still with names I offer you this but only for the lighter side; there ARE EXACTLY 20 zeros in our first decade if you care to count themwhich is the last connection I personally made to this title and only still see this account as coincidental. Count them yourself. Lastly the title "Twenty Hundreds" which also were nominated is lexicographically correct AS the title for our Twenty-First Century and though not this first or any decade. More confusion which had still to be sorted out was a poll finalist "the Tens" which were nominated as a name for this decade which "off this list (it) must go" now as it should and WILL undoubtedly be called (Twenty "Tens" or Teens) correctly so in the next decade of years during/though "2011AD through 2020AD". Count 10 numbers from smybolic zero as 1 is 1 to get to 10 and then count 10 more numbers and you'll arive safely to the "Twenties". Come on - now you still don't get it. Do you? Can you hear some folks in 60 or 70 years from now saying "yeah, this is the decade of the "two thousand seventies". Honestly can you? Try "Twenty Seventies". Sounds much easier by a long stretch. I could stake my life on this, that "full run of a complete examination " on the name campaign of our "Twenty Zeros" will trip on an audible alarm before your trial is complete. There are too many indicators pointing there. I might also add to be careful not to write or convey Twenty Zeros as 20 zeros (or 0"s) as the problem still of it being a number and ONLY a number (and/or vice-versa) gets in the way. It's not yet a number let alone "a name" until it's appointed so by lexicographers or linguists, or Experts such as Britanicca or the IRS. A day will come when Twenty Zeros will be the name of a number but that day may not arive for another thousand years when society then say's "well that's easy, we'll make Twenty Zeros AND NOW too, "Thirty Zeros" a number and the number as their name's, just why didn't they accomplish it a thousand years ago when they indeed HAD 20 zeros in their decade"? You can see the real problem can't you, as back in the eleven or twelve hudreds to go along for only ten years with a title "The Eleven Zeros", Or "The Twelve Zeros and So On but until you get to Two-Thousand and TwentyAD and try to say "The Twenty Twenties" when it went unused during entrance to the digital age and millennium beginning a first thought is "that isn't even a number except known for and as, "Two-Thousand Twenty. So now don't we realize that we are in 20 years from now going to simply say "Twenty-Twenties" or would we say "Two-Thousand Twenties"? No way sorry but nope! Every Decade title has 2 words which are numbers YET ARE JUST WORDS. It isn't any different for our decade here. What We Are Attempting To Do First Is Assign "Words and/or Term To Two Numbers or 2 Numerical Characters" or, To A Number (in this case, the number 2000s in the vernacular use other than some terms as "two-thousands". There has not been the need to do so previously in modern history. "Twenty Zero Zero" or "Twenty Zero" would represent the year 2000 and can or could be spoken "Zero Zero" or "Zero" for short which is common in a casual manor and so on to "Twenty Zero One" or, casually "Zero One" etc. The use of zeros in the title "Twenty Zeros" comes as needed and is consistant with that area of numbers located between and including one & 10 with the numerical prefix of "0" in that area of numbers, other than 10 of course. Between (19)31 & 40 is the 30's or (the term) "the thirties" if you look at the numbers (and name) though disavowed of words, for this purpose as yet. The assignment provides a name to (the) words of this number. For convenience just one word would do better however two is necessary to complete the meaning. Every other decade has held 2 words in their title thus conformity here would be the norm again. Welcome to the decade of the "Twenty Zeros" and can also be spelled "Twenty-Zeros" or Twenty Zeroes". We have only 2 1/2 months before the millennium countdown. This story is getting exciting as great multiples of mathematics and vernacular aspects come into the reductionary mending of this myth of our "first decades new name" and including the "missing year zero" perplexity. For you and viewers I hope this picture is clearer than it is to me but even just today I thought of another aspect which gave my personal perception luminescence. Though rather simple and seemingly insignificant to the whole picture, this here does so present a new set of questions to be asked to solve a mystery of the "Here In The Third Millennium Quandary", a syndrome of clouds which coincide to such real issues of "giving or birthing titles" as nearly so for "historical record" if not fact; as still yet "ages of/and numbering something" as yet is now unfounded by the alphanumeric code and too , consistantly with numerical factors thereby, to the first year/decade/century of the millennium with years "Zero One", zero two" (casual or short for "twenty zero two), "zero three" and so on and so forth through Twenty Zero Ten. This is a facinating discovery no less for me and predictably for everyone with any vernacular interests as even officials gave up on this project, now appearing to me as faltering. I suggest that I, somehow in (word) work with mediums and with my own interpretations and because of the new "1-10-100-1,000" numeric aspect to english vernacular and also as because there is no presedence for this new year and decade we're in repetitive ocupational actions propeled me toward much of this topic. While I was busy "sourcing dictionary "for names for DotComs" which I enjoy developing, I decided to steer this project on course. It's a sort of hobby, watching increased valueline on dot coms go up - by Wall Street & Analysts. I comfortably one day latched on to this name and thoughtfully guessed that I was probably first, or maybe the only individual to do so I began the search. Well now it's time to put some serious beliefs down on this I then thought and I'm nearly the perfect facilitator for the Twenty Zeros" first decade name campaign as I don't possess any more than a outright copyright and would for the publicity in turn love to see the worldly ones make their fortunes from it as someone nearly always does. I see it this way, all they can do is forward and "push the name" I chose further into the history books. I commented in an earlier dated post that civilization in 3000AD would more than likely go ahead and name the decade of years "3001Ad through 3010Ad" the "Thirty Zeros" and in continuation each and every 10th year of all decades that "do appear" as now belongiong to its succeeding decade(s). This all gets back to my premise that we today have another question though insignificant possibly, of do we consider this year "as belongs", to the Zeros or the Nineties. I suggest either way the zeros clearly only run up until midnite new years eve 2010 and the morning of 2011. I would comment that this year should be invited to the decade while not assume that it can belong so, at least not until EVERYONE gets on this matter. It all began the "first morning" of 0001AD or midnite of the last day of the year 12-31-0001BC. At midnight the calendar rolled right "over zero" to 0001AD thus eliminating our most sought after year which by and (with) exception would and could have been the only year in all of history to correctly and rightly belong to "both decades, centurys and millenniums". NOTICE - 10/10/2000 Dear La.Com Columnist, It was brought to my attention yesterday by one expert viewer that "A decade" by definition has ten years. Therefore since from the beginning of "calendar records" the very first decade (see copy below for detail of this) completed at end of 0010AD and each and consecutive decades began "as with" 0011 through 0020 (delivering not the year 0020AD as first year of and for the 3rd decade and so on and so forth), the year 0021 which as would seem in a vernacular way and likewise in turn, "a decade" then and there proceeds through the years of it's decade to and through its "10th and final year" 0030AD. So my correction as final (as "I once" had online posts describing our decade only through the year 2009, as did many opinions also) for our decade is that this year belongs to the last decade of the Nineteen Nineties and not the Twenty Zeros. I haven't looked at this real hard and long this morning but at first look it seems pretty conclusive. I am therefore broadening the Campaign to appeal for the title acceptance(s) of the "Ten Zeros" (years 1001ad - 1011ad) and "Thirty Zeros" (years 3001ad - 3011ad) as "we here" in the "twenty zeros" are more able representatives of this entire account of the "20 Zeros", as then (in 1000AD) publicans had not ten zeros in their decade and also (they) will not have thirty zeros (30 Zeros) a thousand years from now, but a still faltering twenty 0's("20 zeros") episode of the "continuation" in another and further on 1,000 years search again for- A Title For "The Zeros First Decade" Of The Millennium. On some final note, the VERY first Post Millennium decade was the the "Zero Zeros" (Zeroes or Zeros) with the first year being simply or just "Zero One" or "Millennium Zero One" Year. Plain "Year Zero" or "Zero Zero" DID NOT EXSIST"! While the first Ten Decades of the "very first" Century AD could be and could have been grammatically correct in the vernacular, the first decade of the Second Century AD all the way through 9 Centuries and "the 9th Century-AD" (singling out first decades, only of each Century in this sentence, except of and for the actual entire first century) were uneasy to use in the vernacular as poor grammer were present. THOUGH while grammatically correct and so in vernacular use, the "Ten Zeros" and first decades beyond, which is the first ten years beyond 1000AD is not a first decade nor is it in the second millennium. The entire first 100 years of 1000AD is correct while, yet belongs to the first 1000 years and first millennium. The year 1100AD begins the first Decade and first Century of the second Millennium and is the Eleven Zeros. At last, it's not difficult to say "Twenty" as 1 of the 2 words of "a sought for two word title" for our decade. It even gets rather easy when we countdown from (21) "the" 21st Century to (1+ "the zero") the 1st Century AD. ei... 800 AD; the 1st Decade would be the Eight Zeros etc. Since as Aughts and Naughts were the clear winners followed by the Zeros, of 1999 online polls for naming the first decade, it may as simply well be a given, "the Zeros" for titling the 2nd word of our first decade.
