Bart Keeler wins third in a row |
Bart Keeler has been the number one seed in the 4th of July Open since its conception in 2003. He has won the Open every year. This is equal to that of Borg, Sampras, and Federer in the Tennis world. This year, he defeated the youngest finalist ever, Sarah Lawley (9), 15-10. Prior to this year, Keeler beat Jacob Geary, 11-9, and Libbie Geary, 11-6, when the tournament was held at Mayo Grounds. Not only has he won the three tournaments, but he has increased his badminton winning streak to 13 matches. Undoubtedly, Bart will be a number one seed next year, hoping to hoist the "Blue Cup". |

Sarah Lawley became the youngest winner of a match in this year's 4th of July Open. Miss Lawley, age 9, defeated David Ridgeway, 13-3, and Derek Penna, 22-20, to advance to the final match against Bart Keeler. She eventualy lost to Keeler, but still, her heroics will be a part of Open history. |
